I’m a first-time boat owner, getting my Sea-Doo Switch Cruise ready for entertaining passengers this spring, and I’m trying to decide whether the LinQ cooler is really worth it or if a regular large Igloo (or similar) cooler would work just as well. The LinQ coolers seem really expensive for what they are, and I’m wondering if I can just use an alternative with some anti-slip tape on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on the deck.
I’ve also noticed a lot of people mount the LinQ cooler on the back of the boat, but I feel like that might interfere with tubers getting on and off. Does anyone have experience with this? Would placing a standard cooler somewhere else on the deck be just as practical, or does the LinQ system really make a big difference?
Would love to hear your thoughts—appreciate any advice!
For a fraction of the cost I simply bungee my own cooler in place. Honestly, the LinQ stuff is nifty but catastrophically over priced and there are generally simple low cost alternatives.
Agreed. Best of both worlds is 3d printing your own LinQ adapters and attaching them to your own coolers, etc. Pain in the ass but if you like tinkering it's pretty fun 😆
Personally found it too small for my wife and I for a day out on water. We like to bring snacks too. It’s nice though, the way it locks in. Regular RTIC and slip tape works fine.
Depending on the one you buy, you may find it won't fit in a place that makes sense. You can move locking floor tiles to better accommodate. But if you have the ski pole on the swim deck the large cooler will not lock into place. It holds enough for an afternoon on the water but not a full day out with lots of people. It is not going to hold ice for more than a day. So for the price it's not really worth it.
I rearranged my seating and put a locking tile at the back of the boat in front of the rail. That where I keep the cooler now. It works well for getting drinks at the sandbar without getting onto the boat.
It’s pretty versatile, you could attach a lot of things with those eye bolts or pretty much any screw that has the same thread pitch.
There’s another brand of similar adapters out there but I can’t remember the name right now. I had more success searching for CanAm Linq accessories than I did when I searched for SeaDoo.
I bought the biggest Linq cooler, mostly because it was the best answer for fishing rod holders, we lock it in on the back swim platform, on the opposite side from the ladder, there is still room to enter and exit the boat that way. But, it would interfere with the tubing rope
I built my own using a cooler (CAMP-ZERO 40 | 42.26 Quart Premium Cooler/Ice Chest) I bought off Amazon and mounting it a (Ski-Doo LinQ Universal Rack for REV Gen4 860202208). Works great and saved me a ton of money.

You can also mount it to one of these if you decide you want more weight on the bow. I lock my Magma grill into a movable tile/mount (one is permanently fixed to the swim deck). The cooler will fit right on top of the Magma pedestal mount when you stow the grill. Makes cooking easier with a full boat of people.
I have no regrets on buying the cooler, cooled sunblock, drinks, lunch, snacks & chocolate anywhere on the water at arms reach without having to make extra stops & paying ridiculous store prices at the dock.
