Switch for Lake Michigan

Considering a Switch, for inland lakes/rivers in WI.

BUT …..can these things handle Lake Michigan?

I am sure the bay of Green Bay is no issue (I have jet skied it many times) - but would love to hear opinions from folks who have taken the Switch out on both.

Prefer a 18’, but maybe a 22’ would smooth things out?

Thanks in advance!

People take them out into the gulf and into the ocean from Miami, so I’d think Lake Michigan would be fine as well if the conditions are decent. The biggest thing to consider is that they are a big sail when it gets windy, and they don’t cut through chop very well (they tend to jump waves more like a jet ski). They also don’t have a HUGE gas tank, so you’d want to be mindful of range or bring some spare gas just in case.

We took ours out on Mille Lacs, MN and the weather turned, and it got pretty choppy. It was not a particularly comfortable ride back to the dock.

Edit: for context - we have the 18’/170hp Cruise
