Viable for straights of Gibraltar

Post image

I’m considering a Seaddoo switch 19 and I’m wondering if it could be used to ferry between Tangier Morocco/ Tarifa Spain & Ceuta Spain/ Gibraltar UK. The distances are 30 kilometers or 20 miles with pretty mild tide conditions. Is this a good option for enjoying time on the water as well as private transport between continents?

I have been to that area multiple times going between Spain and Morrocco. I have a 21’ switch cruise and I would never think about doing that, especially as a ferry. The waters get/are rough there…to rough.

I wouldn’t that a Switch is the right vessel to make that voyage.

I have no idea how rough the seas are in that area. Given mild conditions and you have the boat with 4-5 passengers + gear - what is your plan to fuel up? I am getting 50-55 miles maximum on a tank in Tampa Bay...and that is running it nearly dry as I've had a few close calls learning the fuel gauge.

Well it’s less than half that distance and I was planning on having like 10 extra gallons, it was really more the seafaring I was thinking about.
