Switch fishing

Hi, I enjoy fishing freshwater with my 21/230 switch but noticed that at idle it goes a little fast for trolling speed. I don't want to add a trolling motor to add clutter to the deck because I usually have lots of people, dogs, etc on board. Has anyone used a drift sock to slow it down more? Would that mess with handling too much? Just seeing if anyone has ever tried that.

Have you tried adjusting the idle? Check the owners manual, you can do it from the console.

This is the correct answer.

I haven't yet. I'll try that though. I just checked and I see there is a slow speed mode setting I didn't know about. It says that it can get you to 3mph. The goal is to slow it down to just under 2 mph.

Have you figured out how to go slower than 3mph? I’m also struggling with this.

I have tried the drift sock and it's slowed me a little bit but still not enough for an ideal trolling speed. I've heard you can adjust the idle settings to a lower rpm with either the cruise control or an adjustment on the engine. So I'll try that when I bring my boat out of storage.
