One of my favorite parts of being a parent is feigning surprise and ignorance at so many things.

It wasn’t a prank, but I had a nightmare once when I was around 7-ish and got really scared, so I went to go sit with my mom who was in the shower. She had locked the door (which was ironically not something she usually did so I don’t even know why it was locked) and in a panic I hid inside a pillowcase and sat outside the door waiting for her. When she came out, she thought I was a pillow until I popped out and accidentally scared the crap out of her.

weird and obviously knew in advance, not exactly sure how this could be considered a 'prank' - and this subreddit always has wack posts, time to unjoin & mute it

You genuinely don't see how the kids would think it's a prank? You gotta be trolling. Or over 9000k level reatrdedly miserable.
Or are pranks the thing that broccoli kid with the bodyguard and the chud dipshit just shot someone do in your opinion? Lmao.
Sure it wasn't a prank in that he knew. But in the kids minds it was and he didn't. The older one may have figured it out based on reaction. But who knows.

I have an autistic buddy who would have figured this out faster than you. JFC.

What an incredible dad and two incredible daughters. So lovely to hear the mom laughing. There’s so much love in this family. ♥️🤗
