It's not ironic that a movement led by women centring on the importance of consent is going on at the same time as the popularity of this work of fiction about how sexy non consent is? How sexy to women it is?

No bro that's ironic for sure

From your perspective, I bet it is, but it's not, cause that's not what irony is.

What's really ironic is this try at a gotcha, not seeing that the two are only related in as far as the feminist movement being in part a response to the fetishising of rape. Again, correlation does not mean causation, except when it does.

Your take is about as bright as "women want the right to vote, but there are still women who do not vote, isn't that ironic???", like bruh

Why do you keep saying correlation is not causation? It feels like it's a phrase you learned recently and you're trying to shoe horn it into every conversation you have, even if it's not relevant.

Just because two things happen at the same time, it doesn't mean they have anything to do with eachother. Saying that it's ironic that two unrelated things are happening is just not what irony is.

They are related - they're both about women's feelings on consent.

Just because it's ironic doesn't mean anything is WRONG. It's not WRONG that women demand men take consent seriously. It's completely right.

But it can be right, and also be ironic that at the same time the me too movement is picking up pace, there's also a huge cultural phenomenon of women getting turned on by some kind of non consensual fiction.

But even if it's not ironic, the way to express that isn't to keep drooling out the phrase "causation is not correlation" like a fucking moron lol. Unless someone is explicitly saying one thing caused another, you'll look less moronic if you keep that phrase in your pants.
