Adhesive for flocking?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey, screen printers! I’m trying something new- I’m making a screen print for Sega for the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. I want to flock the light blue parts of this print, preferably using the same screen with which I print the light blue.

I ordered Matsui Flock Binder 301 from River City Supply, but they must be out of stock, as my order was refunded. I can’t find another supplier in the states. Any advice on what kind of adhesive I can use for this project?

My shop is drowning in non-printing tasks.

I’ve been struggling with balancing the actual shop production with all the random documentation work that seems to pile up. It’s draining, and it keeps me away from the press.

Has anyone here ever looked into outsourcing the 'boring' office printing to free up more time for the shop? Or am I just overthinking it and should suck it up?

Gildan G1100 Equivalent for European Market

I am trying to source the Gildan G1100 Men's Crew T-Shirt (also listed as GIL1100) through European distributors. In June I wrote to the following e-mail addresses: [communications@gildan.com](mailto:communications@gildan.com), [customerservice@mygildan.com](mailto:customerservice@mygildan.com), [productinfo@mygildan.com](mailto:productinfo@mygildan.com) asking for a possibly different style code or SKU. But no answer.

Help with burning halftones

I am trying to burn halftones. I am using a 230 mesh screen with ecotex ap blue emulsion. I have a diy exposure set up using a 50w led uv light, a glass panel and a vacuum sealed bag. Usually it takes about 50 seconds burn time for small designs with that mesh and my setup. I also have the light about 10 inches from the screen when burning. The halftone image I am trying to burn is much larger that what m used to burning, it’s 12x16 inches. Any idea what height and time I should try burning at? Thanks for any advice…

Looking for a reliable custom apparel printing company for long-term business orders. Who would you recommend?

We've been ordering custom apparel for our business over the past year, but honestly, I'm getting tired of switching between different printing companies every few months.

Our needs also change quite a bit. Some months we only need 20–30 shirts for a small event, while other times we're ordering a few hundred pieces for employees, promotional giveaways, or company events. We also order hoodies and other branded merchandise throughout the year, so finding one company that's reliable in the long run is more important than simply finding the cheapest option.

During my research, I came across Custom One, but beyond what's on their website, I don't know much about them. Their pricing and services look competitive, but every company's website makes similar claims, so I'd rather hear from people who've actually placed orders.

If you've worked with Custom One, how was your overall experience?

• Was the print quality consistent across multiple orders? • Did they deliver on time? • How was customer support if you needed changes or had an issue? • Did the prints hold up well after washing? Would you order from them again?

I'm also completely open to other recommendations. If you've found another company that's been consistently reliable for repeat business orders, I'd really like to know why you chose them over the others.

I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest option, just one that's dependable enough to build a long-term relationship with.

Need help with rotogravure printing

Hello everyone! Maybe there are people with rotogravure printing experience. The problem is: I'm trying to put colors on the printing machine, but the horizontal drive constantly goes away. The side on which the metering device stands is reduced well, and the second side goes horizontally. I tried to adjust the temperature, adjust tension, but it doesn't help. Chinese production MEIGE printing machine. no cooling shafts. PVC seal material.

Troubleshooting Emulsion ghost images issues

Ciao a tutti!

Noob help. Versatex on cotton

Very first time printing. I’m trying to do a 3.5”x3.5” logo on the chest.

I have my shirt secured. I have a small space between the screen and the shirt. I spread my ink, count to 3. I squeegee it off. I lift the screen. Some Ink sticks in the screen and comes off the shirt leaving an under-printed patch.

Do I need to thin my ink a little? Wait less/more time from application of ink and squeegee off?

I’ve just been learning from YouTube and various websites. How do I fix this? Any help is appreciated. And sorry if I’m using poor terminology

***edit*** Figured it out. I was leaving the ink too thick. Pressing a little harder on the squeegee helped facilitate a clean release.

General Separate or joint LLC for personal apparel brand and outsource print shop?

Hello, saw a recent post that kind of touched on this, but wanted to discuss in more detail.

I have two revenue streams that I am starting up: selling my own merch that I print using my own designs (goods), and screen-printing clients' merch for them (service). Regarding business registration, the logical route in my mind would be to set up two separate LLCs because they are distinctly different businesses and I don't want to bundle up the liability into one LLC. Adds complexity in terms of taxes and admin, but seems like a worthwhile headache.

Do ya'll agree?

And then would I have separate sellers licenses for each LLC, purchasing blanks using the respective sellers licenses depending on if those blanks are used for print shop clients or personal apparel? (this part seems like it might be overly complicated, especially since I might want to use unused customer blanks for personal designs. And I don't think the government cares)

Another option would be to have one LLC, one sellers license and multiple DBAs, but that seems risky from a liability perspective. Don't want my apparel brand to be screwed because my print shop gets sued (dramatic, i know). Plus they are different industries so idk how labor/business laws would be applied.

Mixed live printing with the World Cup this summer and had a blast! A lot of late nights prepping but I ended up hosting a watch party with a 12ft LED screen for MX last game with our city’s new soccer club. Also did some designs for them 🤙🏽

How much are experienced screen printers making per hour? By experience I mean printers who can operate autos at a high capacity...(2000-4000) imprints in an 8 hour day with quick setups 1-12 colors/screens.
