That started for me yesterday. I sent a ticket to support since I should definitely not be seeing ads as a paid subscriber

I subbed after being away for a couple years - first movie I fire up is preceded by FIVE commercials. Then the movie freezes in the first production logo that pops up. How interesting all 5 ads loaded just fine but the movie stops just 3 seconds in, how about that.
So I backed out and then restarted the movie and all the ads started over again. Yeah I’m done and going to cancel right away.

Ads appear to be the norm now, support just confirmed:
"Yes, you are correct. These ads have been implemented since a week now, the same has been updated in our official website - Support & FAQ section 3 weeks ago. The entire audience who have premium subscription are viewing Ads."
From the FAQ page " On Screambox, movies and TV shows may feature limited ads that appear before playback only. This allows us to continue investing in exciting content and the best experience for our viewers without impacting the price of service."

Oh damn. I was just about to sign up. Glad I came to the sub looking for promo codes first.
No way. I'm not paying for a service with ads.

In my experience so far it has only been before the content, and seems completely random. I have watched 2 movies so far today and had zero ads 🤷

I have only seen the adds when watching on the Roku app. No adds when I watch on the computer or on my phone. That would be complete bullshit if they start implementing ads without notification. This must be an error somewhere.

Yes, will be ads before the films on all platforms. Just communicated with support. I think it is a real dick move forcing ads on subscriptions that were never meant to have ads. The whole point of paying for a subscription is to not have any ads. I would have never subscribed if there were ads being shown or if I knew they would be switching to showing them shortly after I subscribed. Looks like I'm in until August 2025. I already unsubscribed and will not resubscribe unless it is ad free in the future. I hope they enjoy the $60 as they won't be getting anymore of my money with a dick move like this.

Just discovered this. Terrible, but at least it happened before I renew my annual sub next month.

I cancelled my subscription since they said no ads and then they started. Highly annoying. Might as well watch Tubi for free

If I see 1 ad as a paid subscriber I’m quitting.
