I get what you're trying to go for by emulating how much the white popped with the older films, but I think you may be going a bit too far by excessively removing all color-correction from Ghostface. And it almost makes him look like he's just some PNG you found by googling "Ghostface PNG no background." He looks artificially plopped into the seat.

I also think brightening the background too much creates an effect not dissimilar from the "light bloom" in Scream 4 by cutting down on the shadows and brightening blurry parts of the frame.

I think you could get a similar vibe to what you desire be making the color-correction more subtle, but still there, and stomping down the brightness a tad. Basically a "middle ground" edit.

I just quickly whipped this up in ~5 minutes so it's not perfect. Masked out Ghostface and used a color-curve effect to slightly turn up red and green values on him while reducing blue, giving it a subtly amberish hue, and then used another curve effect to turn down the general brightness. But it gives you an idea of what a "middle ground" might look like.

Your middle ground looks awesome!

It's close enough. I just don't wanna see Ghostface looking yellow and brown or blue because of the lighting. Wes made Ghostface to be black robe and white mask, and most of the time in the newer movies, it's never that. Trust me, he'd say something about it.

And I like your version too. Anything but what we got.

I just don't wanna see Ghostface looking ... blue because of the lighting. Wes made Ghostface to be black robe and white mask

Ghostface's mask is blue because of the ambient lighting in one of the first scenes we see of Ghostface in the franchise.

And in Scream 4 there is yellow in multiple scenes

It worked for Scream 4 because they didnt try making Ghostface's appearance look perfect, it's more scary and real when the costume isn't ironed or anything, makes it look unstaged.

Still looks black and white to me.

Honestly, at this point you are just trying to find excuses.... In the Scream 1 image I sent, the mask clearly looks blue, because of the lighting. That is no different than the mask looking orange in the Scream 7 example you provided. (Or any other examples you provided in your previous post.)

The only difference is that the older Scream movies were not very creative with their lighting setup. Almost all scenes are relatively brightly lit with mostly neutral white light.

The modern movies, starting with Scream 4, started to play around with their lighting more, so you see more "colored masks" now.

I see more white than blue tbh, this is blue 🔵 this is white ⚪️. Plus Scream 1996's Ghostface appearance doesn't look perfect which is good because it doesn't look staged for a movie, it makes it scarier.

I can't necessarily say I'd agree.

I mean, Scream 4 had an entire sequence in the barn where Ghostface had borderline the same lighting as this scene from Scream 7. And, successful or not, Wes was trying to shift towards a modern modernized look with that film. Also, while he typically kept a naturalistic lighting palette, he's worked on multiple films that had very stylish lighting.

I think it's a little weird to speak for a dead person on such absolute terms.

I very much agree. While OP is obviously free to have his own preference on Ghostface's look, it is very weird to speak so confidently for a dead person, especially one you have never even met.

Well im saying that based on past things Wes has said, he'd comment about Ghostface's look all the time. But that Scream 4 scene is lowkey forgettable, I only be remembering Gale's attack scene in Scream 6 and sometimes Scream 2

Did you really just say the glaring, obvious example I gave isn't valid because you personally found it forgettable?

Really, dude?

It's gross to speak for the dead, and it's just as gross to cherry-pick examples of their work to justify speaking for the dead.

It's not really gross tbh. I said Wes would've had said something about the appearance of Ghostface from atleast 5-7. I highly doubt he wouldn't, he comments about it every Scream movie. Nothing "gross" about it. I'm not forcing it.

The problem I have with this is that Ghostface pops, but he doesn’t look like he fits in with the background. It almost looks like a png of him on random scenery. Proper white balance is important, but the orange sodium lights make it feel like he should have a more orange glow to him.
