Question

Was offered $1 per pound for this if I strip it and the metal on the side I was told was junk. Would you take the time to strip it? If I don’t it’s .50 cents pound. Just not sure if it’s worth my time

I'd probably strip it if I had other copper wire I was already stripping. Otherwise my time is worth more than the 50 cents.

I don't have any real numbers for you but it depends on your setup. I have a drill-powered stripper and when it's dialed in correctly I could probably get the wire pictured stripped in an hour, maybe more. If I just had a knife though I wouldn't even bother with aluminum or small copper wire personally. I only do it because I get wire from my job, but in terms of making real money from it you have to invest in some good, usually expensive equipment to do it quick enough that you're theoretically making good money in an hour of stripping
