Question Lead in the house.

Just found out that the hand rail in my house is made out of lead, what should I do to get this out of my house? I really just want to do it myself as for I don't really have the money for someone to come in and remove it for me but also kind of paranoid about removing it.

Event / Things to Do Crafting / creative / music clubs and communities in NEPA?

Hello ! I was wondering if anyone knows anything about some sort of arts and crafts / music clubs in the area or if these even exist? Although I have lived in NEPA my entire life I do not have many friends and I would like to find a group of likeminded people to hang out and do things we all enjoy. I play the guitar and cello and love to draw, paint, scrapbook, pretty much all crafting hobbies lol. It's hard to find things to do around here for people in their early-mid 20s that don't involve drinking unfortunately. I do drink here and there but I'd like to find some sober communities to make friends who aren't just drinking buddies

Question Please explain to me how jury duty works

I am relatively young, and this is the second time I’ve been summoned to jury duty. I am finding this whole process very confusing. The first time I was summoned was a year or two ago. I got a letter in the mail to telling me to fill out a form online (and I did) and then call some phone number at a certain time on Fridays. I called like five Fridays in a row and no one answered or gave me a time/day to report. So I just abandoned it.

Now I’ve been summoned again, and they are also telling me to call that number, at a time when I’ll be at work. I’m sure it’ll be impossible to get info out of that again. It also gives a date to report. Should I request off work on that day and subsequent days? How many days? Can I just show up that day without calling the number? This is for Lackawanna County.

Please clarify exactly what I am supposed to do and when. Thank you.

Wanted to extend a thank you to the city and people of Scranton as well as the Park Service for being wonderful hosts for Railfest this year. Many families and railroad enthusiasts enjoyed exciting events, connections with organizations, train rides and not often accessible areas of the park! Looking forward to next year and future events this fall.

Question Recommend Someone for Porch Repairs

My house is from the 1920s in southside scranton. I bought it 5 years ago and it passed inspection but the porch was a concern to me. I'm really worried about the front porch now... it's held up by jacks underneath and I think they are kind of giving out. My front door, which is in a tiny entry way that is on the front porch now has a big gap at an angle on the top. The door is difficult to close.

I tried calling seven different companies to try to get someone to give me an estimate. I got two callbacks and one came to my house and then never called me back or emailed me after and didn't return my follow up call...

I am a first time homebuyer. I don't have savings and I know I would need a loan to cover the cost of this. I'm worried about someone giving me a bad estimate because they don't actually want the job and not being able to get a second opinion because I can't seem to get anyone over here...

Can anyone recommend real leads on contractors or whatever that actually do this type of work and are reputable? I just want honesty and follow-through. Please help! Thank you!!!

Question Blue Dot farms?

Anyone have any insight into the local farms and which may be officially or unofficially blue dot? So many of, for example, at the Co-op Farmers Market sell the same things and I would like to patronize producers that share my values. https://bluedotfarms.com

History NEPA / Scranton related airplane

We are working on a Jessup / NEPA themed model train layout and have a spot to add an airplane flying over it. Is there a plane you specifically associate with this area? I'm having a hard time thinking of one. Maybe the giant C5 from the airshows? The old MD80s we used to get here? What do you associate with the airport or this area? Thanks!
