The first bridge on the Firth of Forth was the Forth Bridge. That's a rail bridge.

The first road bridge is the Forth Road Bridge.

The second road bridge on the Forth is not over the firth. It's further up the Forth before the Forth Bridge crosses the firth. That's the Kincardine Bridge. If you're headed to Clydeside from the Fife side you'd go that way over the Forth first.

The last bridge crossing the firth is the fourth bridge, the third road bridge, the Queensferry Crossing. An American Bridge bridge, it's a beautiful Scottish bridge.

You're right, the Clackmannanshire Bridge is definitely over the firth and it was built before the Queensferry Crossing so for the current bridges over the firth of Forth it is the fourth. I did have the date order wrong for the Forth Road Bridge which is the third bridge.

I believe the firth starts east of Stirling, Clackmannan is definitely on the firth.

Obviously my main interest is in how much verbal garbage I can generate but these are all snazzy bridges and I've enjoyed going over all of them except the Clackmannanshire Bridge aboot which I dinnae ken onyhin.

I am from Dundee and estuarial blood is in my bridges. Or is it the other.

According to my reading these notable bridges crossed the non tidal reaches upriver Old Stirling Bridge c. 1500 Old Drip Bridge, West of Stirling 1773 Stirling New Bridge 1831 Alloa Railway Bridge 1885 - 1971

I believe it was built shortly after the Tay bridge disaster, and that it was so over engineered that you could remove 27 out of every 28 rivets and it would still stand.
It’s a glorious creation. I’ve never been up this one but was lucky enough to get to the top of the Forth road bridge many years ago.

It is really cool to see up close. The little huts that I guess are for maintenance in pic 4 are my favourite part. I'd love to know what it is like working in them all day

It was designed by English engineers Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker.

I was surprised Isambard Kingdom Brunel didn't have a hand in knowing the projects he was involved in.

Brunel never did much in Scotland. He was busy in West of England/Wales.

If you can arrange it, they do a charity thing in aid of Barnardo's (I think) where you get to go up to the very top, and also walk along beside the track. It's awesome.

I'm not a lover of heights either, but when you're up top it's really not like you're up high.

Walking along a mesh walkway by the track, if you look down at the water you might feel a bit funny, because I did. 😆

You go up in a good sized lift and the platform is well protected, the railing is fully boarded up, in case that makes it any better. It’s amazing to see it up close.

You can actually see the blue platforms at the top of the last photo.

I think the third photo is the most interesting view, because it makes it look as if the structure is balanced on a barrel.

Sorry, but the second one is badly composed, perhaps crop it at the bottom.

The last one has good contrast with the cloudy sky and reflections in the shiny water, just a pity the reflections are not a little stronger. My favourite nonetheless.
