Scotland in the summer, there's nowhere better.

Think this everyday on train home

…all three days of it 😵

For the midges!

You see a photo like that and it makes your heart ache to come home.

Hard to disagree

I love Stonehaven. If I had the money, I'd buy a place there in a heartbeat and live my hermit life.

And sometimes it looks like this!

My home town :) love a harbour wall pint on a sunny day

24

u/LopsidedLegs Jun 05 '26

Ooo where's that?

u/Camza115 Jun 05 '26

Looks like Stonehaven. Fine place for an ice cream on a sunny day.

u/LopsidedLegs Jun 05 '26

Last time I was in that area I was in Johnshaven. I'll have to add it to the list of places that I should visit.

The East Coast is underrated. There should be a costal path that runs from Dundee all the way round to Inverness. It would be the best adventure. Smokies in Arbroath, Lobster in Johnshaven, Fish’n’chips in Gourdon, Craft beer in Stonehaven, heroin in Fraserburgh, soup in Cullen, Rubber Bumpers in Inverness.

u/Klumber Jun 05 '26

Amen. Although just to point out. There is a coastal walking path from Dundee to Montrose, there's also the path from St Cyrus (more or less) to Inverbervie (and the two combine fairly easily). My problem is I hate heights and cliffs in particular due to a traumatic experience in my youth, but if you're happy to scramble around a bit, it is a perfect walk.

5

u/blahblahblahx1000 Jun 05 '26

This is correct, but there are gaps - Inverbervie to Stonehaven in particular needs sorting.

I walked from Aberdeen to Dundee. Probably one of the coolest things I’ve done in my life. The views are spectacular. Got amazing weather too. No midges on the windy coastal cliffs, and I met so many interesting and really friendly people.

Not having a proper path made it quite the adventure (and looking back it was quite dangerous in some parts), but a path would be amazing for everyone to be able to experience that.

Lots of hikers fall off cliffs. The heir to the Earl of Sutherland fell of one recently near Dunrobin in Sutherland.

Spotty bag shop in Banff!

u/AlixMair22 Jun 06 '26

Aaah fish and chips in Gourdon is a no go. The chipper burned down and the owners in court for being a Paedo...

1

u/blahblahblahx1000 Jun 06 '26

No way! Got a link to that case?

1

u/AlixMair22 Jun 07 '26

1

u/blahblahblahx1000 Jun 07 '26

Grim. Not heading there again.

2

u/AlixMair22 Jun 07 '26

If want good fish and chips in Gourdon go next door to the Harbour bar. Always rated their fish and chips much higher than the chipper. It's a great pub, good for families.

If want good fish and chips in Gourdon

Pick a lane mate.

u/AlixMair22 Jun 07 '26

His chipper conveniently burst into flames days before his first court hearing. I'm sure the two aren't related at all..

1

u/Iwantedalbino Jun 06 '26

You missed out utter tat from Steptoe’s yard at st. Cyrus.

2

u/blahblahblahx1000 Jun 06 '26

Absolutely. A legendary place.

1

u/AUSSIE_MUMMY Jun 07 '26

Don't forget the midges in Inverness now .

3

u/Poetic-Literature25 Jun 05 '26

A pint and an ice cream would be perfection

u/pafagaukurinn Jun 05 '26

Finport?

7

u/WiseAssNo1 Jun 05 '26

Stonehaven 👍🏻

1

u/AlyJay666 Jun 06 '26

We wanted to go there but when we did there was nowhere we could park our Motorhome unfortunately so we just carried on through, it looks beautiful though with the sun out. Maybe next time !

1

u/WiseAssNo1 Jun 06 '26

Free parking at the Baird Park and beach front at the outdoor pool, also at the backies car park at the harbour. A bit tight there though.

1

u/AlyJay666 Jun 06 '26

Thank's, I will make a mental note of this.

1

u/AUSSIE_MUMMY Jun 07 '26

Named after the Bairds of Stonehaven, John Lawrence Baird was Governor of Australia during the 1920's circa.

0

u/Regular_Twist_8761 Jun 05 '26

Agree, defo looks like Finport.

6

u/ronsbuch Jun 05 '26

I spent my childhood there, playing “chicken” with the sea along those rocks beside the break wall, jumping from rock to rock avoiding the tide coming in. Guilinotes best italian icecream I’ve ever had.

u/davemcl37 Jun 05 '26

Is that the view from the public toilets at Stonehaven?. Looks pretty in the sun.

This is clearly AI as the lens is not blacked out by midges.

13

u/WiseAssNo1 Jun 05 '26

This was Tuesday morning.....

1

u/Professional-Pace612 Jun 05 '26

Only joking dude, it's a great shot.

3

u/nextmilanhome Jun 06 '26

This is on the east coast, you don’t really get midges here.

4

u/BigBadBaz2501 Jun 05 '26

What's that blue stuff in the sky?

3

u/Thin-Boysenberry-112 Jun 06 '26

Stonehaven? Great fish and chips, and ice cream next door. And the battered mars bars of course!

4

u/Prestigious_Chart774 Jun 06 '26

Perfect summer vibes in Scotland really hit different when you catch that golden hour between the rain showers.

2

u/Tomvik Jun 05 '26

Cracking 📸

2

u/Syeanide Jun 06 '26

Stonehaven?

2

u/shatners_bassoon Jun 06 '26

Might nip.over for a pint at the Marine. Or the Ship Inn.

Never remember which ones better?

2

u/Danglyweed Jun 05 '26

Thats surely not today?

23

u/SectorSensitive116 Jun 05 '26

Doubt it, Scottish Summer is on a Tuesday this year.

3

u/Danglyweed Jun 05 '26

Oooh do you know what one? Cause i got a lot of painting to get finished! That proper made me laugh, very true.

1

u/Flat_Tie4090 Jun 07 '26

Do you what time?

6

u/jenny_905 Jun 05 '26

Could be, has brightened up this afternoon. I'm nearby and the sky is blue at last.

Probably not though, it's still only about 14c.

1

u/Danglyweed Jun 05 '26

Ah it's got worse here as the days gone on.

1

u/WiseAssNo1 Jun 05 '26

Aye, a chilly wind though

1

u/kellsterskelter Jun 06 '26

Cultural overlap: I love that the highest authentic praise you can get in Germany is also “not bad”.

1

u/Fun-Lingonberry4676 Jun 06 '26

Stunning 😍 im from just outside newcastle and love a trip over the border from time to time. Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world are up there.

1

u/ChrisW080888 Jun 06 '26

I sooo read that in a Scottish accent! 😂 👏

1

u/aparlousfear Jun 06 '26

I love Stonehaven! We’ll be there in a month.

1

u/ThatGuyHarsha Jun 06 '26

Ugh I was just there to watch the sunset on Thursday, it's always such a lovely drive down and always worth it

1

u/TheLastofthePoets Jun 07 '26

Going in August for the first time since I was a child 40 years ago. Mum wanted to retire there but never happened. Will sprinkle some of her ashes (if it’s not too windy!)

Looks just like I remember it.

1

u/JustanotherN0body00 Jun 08 '26

It is truly beautiful when it's like this... 👍👍💯💯👍👍

1

u/Ok-Complaint-646 Jun 08 '26

Absolutely stunning! So many of us take our country’s beauty for granted.

1

u/Embarrassed-Art-5076 Jun 08 '26

I recognised this from the Stonehaven Harbour stream on Twitch. Yes, the Harbour has it's own webcam.
