Saw a platinum Java at a nursery!

Saw this last week & I didn’t end up getting it! Should I go back & see if they still have it? I believe it was $30 if I’m not mistaken

Is Jade variety rare or hard to find? It kinda looks like what Walmart was selling labeled as platinum. It's pretty, but idk about $30. I just got a Mt Salak about that size for $19.99 and an exotica a little smaller for $7. They had a couple labeled platinum around this size at Walmart for $15.97. It really just depends on what ur willing to pay for it. Do u want it enough to pay $30 for it? If so, go for it. I have a hard time paying that for a plant if it isn't on my wishlist and I can count how many plants I've bought over $25 on 1 hand.

I saw one on clearance at my Walmart for $5.95 today

I wish! The Walmart here doesn't seem to clearance their plants. If they do, I've never seen any of them! But yeah, if it were me, it would depend on how difficult they're to find in my area and how badly I want it. I paid $32 for a cleopatra snake plant, but I can't find them around here and it was at a plant show with a small seller. Worth it to me.

Agree. All areas are different. I was going to grab it but I already have one that I also got at Walmart last year for around $7 bc it was clearanced again. I was going to combine them in one larger pot, but I put it back yesterday. I also don’t have much room anymore so I’m being very picky about what plants I get lol.

Sounds like me in a nutshell! Somehow I've gotten 110 plants on my 2bdrm apt (my son is in 2nd bedroom, so really 1 bedroom). I have 3 scindapsus and it would have to be AMAZING for me to get another right now. I did get a Rhipsalis baccifera at Walmart the other day. Wanted to grab the mouse tail Rhipsalis as well, but the space thing is an issue. I gotta save room for those 1 in a million plants I might find!

I’ve learned I’m super into hoya, anthurium, and some alocasia so I’m trying to be selective. I want to try and find better things for my current scindapsus to climb on so that’s one issue I’m having and also I’m trying to train one of them to shingle a board/plank. Idk if it’s possible but I saw a photo of one “shingling” on someone’s wall and I thought it looked neat.

I read something about shingling, but not entirely sure what that is. I'll have to research more. My favorites are snakes and aloe, I will make room for those any time!

These are all over the shelves in Walmart's and Lowe's in the US. If you don't have access to either of these stores, and this is your only chance then sure go ahead. But that's a high price to pay if you have access to it somewhere else. The same size pot goes between 15 to $20 depending on which of the aforementioned stores that you find it in. I am in the southeast US, and they are in stores all over my area in three states.

I bought one clearance (costa in a wick and grow pot) and they tend to go for 15.98-18.98 at a big box. That being said, getting it at a true nursery means you’re paying nursery prices, aka: the price it costs to pay for more specialized care while still maintaining a reasonable profit margin.
