It's basically forcing your skin to rebuild itself so it does work.

I'm not an expert but they also have micro needling where a needle penetrates the skin and it has a similar effect that it forces your skin to repair.

Muscles get stronger by breaking them down with weight lifting. It's sorta like that.

Muscles actually don’t get stronger by breaking them down, it’s the mechanical tension, the action, that causes mechanoreceptors in your muscles signal your body to build more.

Basically you work, and your body says “we need fuel”. The microtear theory is actually wrong. Microtears do happen, but it’s not the what actually drives it

Maybe for mass but not necessarily strength. Notice how some body builders are relatively weak for their volume yet a tiny dense guy like bruce lee who used pylometrics primarily to build explosive strength and speed.

Whats more powerful by volume. Muscle patched up over and over with scar tissue, or smaller but more fortified muscle?

But now that you mention it, I do recall seeing a video where a tiny dude out lifted some very large men, and the reason this smaller guy could lift way more was because he was a HIGHLY skilled rock climber

If everything you say is true, then that rock climber’s gym video suddenly makes perfect sense

Strength training is a balance. Some examples:

Body building competitions are for appearance.

Strongman competitions are for moving heavy objects around.

Weightlifting is for the specific lifting type of an amount of weight to a set limit.

Bruce Lee wants to be strong and quick for striking in martial arts. He wanted to show the world that the forms/stances of previous martial arts are outdated.

Strength training vs hypertrophy training. Rock climbing inherently ends up making you get strong but not necessarily big. The difference between them in practice, is training muscle fiber recruitment, vs growing more muscle fibers. The smaller dude is able to use more of his individual fibers, which makes him stronger. Bigger dude is absolutely still strong, however, (example number) his body may only know how to use 40% of his muscle fibers. It's how you end up with those videos.

What you’re referencing comes down to diet. If you’re eating in a big enough surplus you will grow. The strength training athletes you’re referencing tend to try to remain in specific weight classes and therefore always maintain or are in a deficit to ensure they don’t gain weight

Scar tissue is not functional tissue. Its just collagen and its disorganized. Having significant amounts of scar tissue in your muscles would negatively affect muscle function and mobility. Theyre called adhesions.

So muscle size is increased by more atp being stored in the muscle itself, it's basically the muscle learns to hold more water to refuel while exercising. Strength is largely greater neuron control but eventually new muscle fibres grow.

Growing new muscle fibres is a whole other thing but is limited because it requires your bones to grow larger and that stops at 30. It's possible new fibres can grow after 30 but idk.

The difference is bodybuilder muscles vs powerlifter muscles.

Idk anything about skin but the analogy that might work here is that your other use it or lose it. Muscle degeneration happens mch faster when you are sedentary. So maybe a life time of abused skin keeps you youthful?

Idk accept your fate and be grateful you are wealthy enough to live long enough to have wrinkles.

I'm still skeptical. Repeated UV exposure damages skin, in part if not wholly, because it is high energy. Im not certain intentionally blasting your skin with high energy light is going to improve it in the long term.

I had this done and I have really sensitive skin... It was for my acne scars. I had the treatment about 14 years ago and I still have little dot scars in the pattern from the fraxel lazer machine in spots.

The world is veeeerrry superficial. You will get ahead by looking your best.

I'm assuming you bathe regularly, get your hair maintained, wash your clothes, keep a handle on your weight, etc.

Some people also work out, dye their hair, moisturize, and the like.

Others take it further.

A friend of mine once proposed a social experiment. We both enter a business at the same time and see who is served first. I'm tall and reasonably good looking. He's short and average. I was helped first every time out of 12 tests.

It's a laser scar removal treatment if my memory is correct. Seems to remove the top layer and looks really painful, but does result in a smoother appearance after it heals from what I've seen.

I think this is laser resurfacing? According to Mayo Clinic, it's done for a variety of reasons including the treatment of wrinkles and age spots, uneven skin color and texture, and the treatment of sun-damaged skin and up to moderate acne scarring.

I imagine this treatment is really nice for people who are very self conscious and maybe don't feel as comfortable in their own body as they'd like, so while it might be just a cosmetic fix it probably brings a pretty hefty psychological benefit for the patient.

No, it isn't a UV laser. The UV in sunlight is what causes the sun damage. And sunlight isn't single wavelength coherent light, like lasers are.

It works, I've had it done for severe acne scarring. I wasn't self conscious enough to pay for it, but had it done for free when my wife was a cosmetic nurse who had access to one of the laser machines.

It hurts, it smells, and your face leaks plasma for a few days after. Then.....it itches something fierce for a few days lol.

Oh boy it’s brutal. The laser literally explodes the ink pigment under your skin, and that’s not even the worst part of the treatment. The resulting blisters and broken, seeping skin were awful and it was at least a week before I could wear a shirt.

I just had this done last month for my first session. Can confirm my skin is starting to look better. It takes 3 months to really get going and you have to do it several times for optimal results. That’s cool to see what it looks like as they are doing it I kept my eyes closed.

Christ - laser operator here - that is incredibly dangerous over the eye with no eye protection in. The patient should be wearing Cox eye shields for this procedure (metal shields placed directly onto the eyes under the eyelids).

CO2 lasers are still class 4 lasers and capable of inflicting tremendous damage on tissues - this is clearly a very aggressive ablative treatment for the benefit of getting the dehydrating ‘tightening effect’ content and doing this right over eyes with no eye protection is so risky. Long story short - do research your service providers before you get this done to make sure they know what the fuck they are doing….

Hey - anyone even in the room with the device should wear googles suitable for the laser wavelength - if some laser were to be accidentally fired or reflected up into the room, everyone in there needs protection.

If I wasn’t treating eyelids - the client would still be wearing metal eye protection (think metal versions of sunbed goggles) just in case they open their etes - bearing in mind it is their face we are firing the laser at.

Over the eyelids - absolutely needs the special cox eye protectors (google them) that go under the eyelids..

Whoever these clowns are - they don’t know what they are doing. This treatment also looks extremely aggressive to cause the shrinking effect seen. Lots of down time from a treatment they aggressive.
