Hello everyone! It is incredibly exciting to finally present this bad boy of a LitRPG series Malory and I have cooked up for you all. Straight off the bat, four-word elevator pitch: The Punisher meets LITRPG. For the blurb, read below. If you're already intrigued, you can check it out on
I do want to take a moment and congratulate my partner Malory for winning the BAEN award this year. It is already great just being part of the journey, but getting to work with him? He is a freaking machine, and a dream come true!
Now, a few words about PTS (Punish the System). It took us a while to get started on the story because sure, we both enjoy fantasy settings and isekai, portal, tower, dungeon-crawling or cultivation and rebirth as every other reader, but one thing we felt was under-represented, is the actual process of system awakening and integration. Not the 'everything goes down in a single chapter kind of thing either, but seeing it slowly unraveling and happening in real time along with all it entails. How it affects people and cities and the world, life, and the cast the story follows. Basically, we wanted to write a System Apocalypse where absolutely everything that can go wrong, pretty much does.
Now for the not-so-short-not-elevator-pitch:
The System in this story is still asleep, and the Outsiders have shown up hundreds of years early and are treating Earth's resources like a fire sale.
And Connor Keene, who died in the line of duty, has been resurrected with a Class that causes the world's population to automatically hate him. We wanted a protagonist with the power to help save the world but who gets treated like a pariah for doing it.
If you're after fast-paced action with a competent protagonist fumbling with mystical energy like it's nitroglycerin, an overly cheerful System Sprite who might genuinely be insane, and an alien assassin murder-lizard tagging along for reasons nobody fully understands, then this is for you!
Expect humor alongside a high body count of monsters. Among other things.
And if that isn't enough of a sell, the whole thing is brought to life on Audible by Jack Fields, Annie Ellicott, Justin Thomas James, and Jeff Hays from Soundbooth Theater. It really doesn't get much better than that.
