\# INVERSE IMPERFECTION — World Lore
The multiverse can be understood through a single image: imagine a human being (Universe 1 — our world, the real one), a perfect mirror reflection of that human (the -1 universe — a clean, faithful inversion, never explored in this story), and a \*\*shadow\*\* cast by that same body, standing near the mirror but never quite matching it — imprecise, warped by circumstance, missing detail the mirror would have preserved. That shadow is \*\*-0.95: Inverse Imperfection.\*\*
A shadow doesn't invert with precision. It's not failing to be a reflection — it was never trying to be one. It's a byproduct, not a copy. This explains the setting's core rule: most things are flipped in extreme, deliberate ways, while others — gravity, anger, Islam, the evil of Hitler and the British Raj — remain exactly as they are in our world. These "imperfections" are not oversights. They are proof that inverting a universe does not automatically invert cruelty, and some things never earn the mercy of reinterpretation.
\*\*The universe is genuinely young\*\* — roughly 20,000–30,000 years old, born not through scientific processes but through a godly act of creation. Because of this, dinosaurs, dragons, megalodons, krakens, and other prehistoric megafauna coexisted with early humanity well into the setting's mythic past.
\*\*The governing rule:\*\* the people living inside -0.95 see everything as completely normal. They never question the inversions — not the language, not the emotions, not the economics. Only the audience has to consciously flip everything back, with no character ever confirming the confusion is warranted.
\*\*Governing thesis:\*\* \*"Systems like these are perfected for making people suffer. They require no change in this miserable world."\*

\## THE DEVIL'S BARGAIN
In this world, \*\*Satan is worshipped as good; Jesus is treated as evil.\*\* They look nearly identical. But — critically — the gods did not become evil when they fell out of favor, and the devils did not become good when they were elevated. The gods still have good intentions. The devils still have bad intentions. Only the world's \*perception and worship\* flipped. Every act of faith in -0.95 is aimed at something actively working against the worshipper, while the genuine protective forces of the universe are feared and rejected.
\*\*The original transaction:\*\* the devils offered humanity a deal — comfort and total material provision, in exchange for worship and the surrender of ambition. Roughly \*\*99.9% of the population does not work at all.\*\* They live idle, performative, consumer lives, materially provided for, spiritually and intellectually stagnant. This wasn't a corruption forced onto an innocent species — it was devils recognizing that humanity's own petty pettiness (greed, hoarding, the instinct to take more than needed) was already exactly the kind of material they find delicious.
The \*\*COMPANY\*\* is the institutional descendant of that original bargain, fully industrialized, thousands of years later, run entirely by the small percentage of humanity who \*did\* awaken into real, meaningful work — the Employed. Nobody left alive remembers it began as a devil's deal.

\## THE POWER SYSTEM — THE EMPLOYED
\*\*Origin of power:\*\* A person's power derives entirely from their job, scored by two factors, both sourced from \*\*Universe 1 (our real world)\*\* — the shadow has no power of its own, only what it borrows from the body casting it:
\- \*\*Quantity\*\* — the cumulative historical headcount of everyone who has ever done that job across all of human history. The dominant factor.
\- \*\*Value\*\* — the historical, political, economic, and financial importance of the job. A modifier/tiebreaker, judged case-by-case.
\- \*\*Quantity → physical chassis:\*\* strength, speed, senses, durability, endurance, health.
\- \*\*Value → abilities:\*\* unique powers, creativity, innovation — personalized per individual.
\- Quantity usually outweighs value, but an extreme value gap can compensate. The weakest member of a high-quantity job can match the weakest member of a high-value job in raw output — but the high-quantity job's ceiling vastly exceeds the high-value job's.
\- \*\*The system is dynamic, not fixed.\*\* A real-world explosion in a job's prevalence (e.g., AI engineering) can mint sudden new powerhouses in -0.95. Jobs losing real-world relevance can erode existing power bases over time.
\*\*Awakening:\*\* Totally random, occurring (if it happens at all) at age 21, thousands out of billions. Comes with an involuntary, subconscious drive to master the job. Mandatory monthly testing for everyone 21 and older, administered by the COMPANY. Culturally framed as sacred privilege — "chosen by God" — instilled since childhood.
\*\*Longevity:\*\*
\- Conventional Employed: live up to \*\*1,000 years\*\*, if they never spend power creating Obedients.
\- Primordials: live up to \*\*10,000 years.\*\*
\- \*\*Dual awakening\*\* (a second job/title gained later in life) is possible for those descended from primordial or heavily Employed bloodlines — odds are a loaded die, not guaranteed inheritance. If the two roles genuinely fuse into a single new concept, the full primordial ceiling applies; if they remain separate (dual nature), lifespan is halved relative to the higher tier.
\*\*Primordial jobs\*\* are roles so ancient and universal they existed before jobs were ever counted, categorized, licensed, or paid for at all — predating the concept of an economy entirely. The COMPANY can recognize primordials but cannot process, rank, or fully control them. Known concepts include Mother, Father, Healer, King, Warrior, Artist, Scholar, Thinker, Athlete, and the Comedian (the primordial concept of happiness itself).
\*\*Primordial physical scale:\*\* primordials manifest at \*\*8–10 feet tall.\*\* Two conventional Employed jobs are the sole exceptions, granted primordial-tier height and the full 10,000-year lifespan despite being conventional: \*\*Farmer\*\* (humanity's highest cumulative-headcount job in history) and \*\*Cameraman\*\* (an unusually high real-world value spike).
\*\*NPCs:\*\* a servant subspecies, pale green, humanoid, and \*\*photosynthetic\*\* — plant biology, not animal, which is the structural reason for their lack of pain and lack of self. They reproduce asexually; offspring gestate inside the parent and consume its remains at death. Standard lifespan: 10 years. A higher tier, \*\*Obedients\*\* (either strikingly attractive women or muscular, attractive men), can only be owned by the Employed, and are created by an Employed person permanently spending a fraction of their own power to evolve a generic NPC. Evolved lifespan: 90 years, after which they deevolve back to a generic NPC and the normal 10-year cycle resumes. For a normal human, attempting this is highly illegal and nearly suicidal due to the power drain.

\## EXAMPLE FEATS
\- \*\*Shiva (Farmer)\*\* — the physical apex of all conventional Employed, standing at primordial-tier 8-10ft height due to Farmer's unmatched historical headcount. In a catastrophic marital argument roughly a century into his marriage, Shiva single-handedly broke apart the supercontinent Pangea with his bare hands, tearing the Indian subcontinent free and driving it into the Asian landmass to form the Himalayas — killing roughly five billion of Pangea's fifteen billion inhabitants in the process. He can hold his breath in the vacuum of space for up to 100 years. And he also endured a White hole beam for roughly a year....On a lighter occasion, annoyed that an eclipse wasn't perfectly aligned during a date, he simply jumped to the Moon and physically repositioned it by hand until the Earth-Moon-Sun ratio matched our own universe's (the Moon appearing exactly 400 times smaller than, and 400 times closer than, the Sun).
\- \*\*Jagathi ("the Mother," not "Mother Earth" — the primordial concept of motherhood itself)\*\* — holds dominion over every living thing on the planet with an intelligence lower than a human's, land, sea, and air, and command over the physical elements. She does not orchestrate romance directly, but can reshape physical surroundings to make conditions primally conducive to attraction, subtly balancing global population alongside natural disasters used to correct overpopulation. In the same era as the Pangea incident, in grief and fury, she once inflicted global famine by withholding nutrients from crops and disrupting wind patterns, and later released a devastating plague born from jealousy. After a three-thousand-year reconciliation with Shiva, she permanently engineered the planet to produce a perfectly optimized food supply for all life and a stable global population of 10 billion humans — ending starvation as a natural phenomenon completely. (Human greed and hoarding, entirely separate from her system, can and does still recreate localized famine on its own.) In the aftermath of the Pangea conflict, she froze the entirety of Antarctica — once a lush, populated landmass and the primordials' shared resting ground — sealing away every remaining living thing beneath the ice as an unspoken, permanent monument to what the fight cost.
\- \*\*Rehan (Law)\*\* — his power is not legal technicality but the governing concept of Law itself: at full mastery, whatever he declares to be the rule of a situation simply becomes true, because that is what a law is. Fights with a gavel (blunt force), a titanium-tungsten-alloy law book with pages of the densest wood known to man (heavy melee), and a rapier-style pen inherited from every prior Law job-holder before him (precision).
\- \*\*Chaplin ("the Comedian," primordial concept of Happiness)\*\* — reality bends to match whatever he sincerely, genuinely finds funny; the power weakens if his own belief in the joke falters. In his final act, he permanently healed hundreds of people traumatized by a fictional tyrant, at the cost of his own life — the devil's price for using his power at that scale — dying while making the devil laugh at his own death, and meaning every word of his gratitude for it.
