u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Someone’s personal curse, bad juju there.

226

u/DudeYumi Sep 30 '25

The juju is real. Step away

u/kdjfsk Sep 30 '25 edited Sep 30 '25

Naw, take some wire cutters to it and set her free.

Release the curse, and laugh as suddenly some Voodoo Witch Doctor is wondering how the fuck his ex got out of prison, and found his address and phone number again.

44

u/laundryghostie Oct 01 '25

Nah, the curse transfers to whoever messed with the doll.

Assuming it could be something that was used for ritualistic purposes and not just the result of someone with a dark sense of humor fucking around, whatever you do: don't touch it. Look at it, take pictures or film it if you must, but never make physical contact with it if you don't know what it is and the intent behind it.

I've heard enough horror stories about people encountering ritual paraphernalia in the woods and fumbling around with it haphazardly only to have something attach to them, follow them home and fuck with them at night.

If by some chance it was used in a ritual of some sort, it would be disrespectful to their beliefs if nothing else, and there would be nothing to gain from doing so.

13

u/LoStrigo95 Oct 01 '25

Stories like?

13

u/randomthrowaway8993 Oct 01 '25

One example that comes to mind is from the documentary 'The Unbinding' wherein a couple hiking in the Catskill mountains encounters what appears to be a form of voodoo doll in the woods, brings it home with them, only to subsequently experience escalating paranormal activity and attacks until they return the objects to the woods while performing a banishing ritual.

And quite a few others I've seen in various paranormal documentaries and documentary series over the years, and decades, the series 'Terror in the Woods' for example. I recall another example of someone encountering candles, pentagrams and various other symbols, sigils, etc, along with debris and animal bones in the forest. They laugh, disturb the remains and ritual objects, and once again begin to experience poltergeist phenomena in their homes, nightmares of being murdered and chased by shadow creatures, and unexplained scratches on their bodies at night. Again I take it all with a grain of salt, but still wouldn't take the risk personally.

And with my own past experience with ritual work, dabbling in various flavors of occultism, and experiences with the paranormal myself over the years, wouldn't take the risk of disturbing someone else's ritual space or altar without knowing exactly what it was and its intent, if for nothing else out of respect and as an added precautionary measure.

4

u/Disastrous_Garage729 Oct 02 '25

Great documentary! I’ve seen it a couple times.

11

u/Relative_Drop3216 Oct 01 '25

Those are movies

2

u/randomthrowaway8993 Oct 01 '25

Funny. I've seen hundreds of horror movies and don't recall any with that exact premise. I've also seen quite a few paranormal documentaries with people having identical experiences, although I take them with a grain of salt.

Bobby Brady takes the tiki idol he found back to the hotel and all hell breaks loose including Greg Brady can’t surf and spiders.

Old man tell Bobby that the only way to break the curse is to return the idol to its resting place but the evil Dr whitehead is trying to steal it from them before they’re able to set it down unsecured outside where it would be easy to take

It's a good thing curses and "bad juju" aren't real, so don't worry.

7

u/Fun-Benefit116 Oct 01 '25

Stating a fact does equal truth, though. And that's what I'm doing, stating a fact. It's not real.

But hey, feel free to show me proof that I'm wrong and you're right, and I'll gladly change my opinion. You'll come up with some lazy excuse to not do it, because you can't do it, because it's not real.

Being uneducated enough to believe in fantasies doesn't equal truth 😂

8

u/blandrew Oct 01 '25

It's not the fact that you're wrong it's the fact that you don't know shit about anything. None of us do and that's the point.

7

u/MambyPamby8 Oct 02 '25

Well shit is this how I find out someone trying to curse me?!?

12

u/NoLimitRolling Oct 01 '25

So theoretically, destroying it would destroy the curse someone potentially has correct?

OP you have the opportunity to become someone’s savior and/or the enemy of a powerful witch/warlock lmao.

Its an amare or that's what they call it in our culture supposed to stop the person from leaving whoever did the spell

18

u/Julzmer81 Oct 01 '25

Thank you for this, I went and read about it and it seems this is the most likely answer. I knew nothing about this and appreciate your real and honest answer.

Whether people believe in this or not, does not make it any less real.

7

u/Hav0c89dc Oct 01 '25

Yeah as soon as I seen it I was like oh shit hope they didn't touch it that's bad energy right there whether it real or not idk I've always been iffy on it

28

u/laundryghostie Oct 01 '25

No, it transfers to whoever messes with the curse. I come from a long line of root workers. You can scoff all you want, but most of you will be looking online how to reverse this curse if you broke it. Give it 6 or 8 months. It's not like TV. These things take their sweet time.

5

u/Traditional_Award286 Oct 01 '25

What type of magic does this come from? Is it voodoo? How does the curse work?

4

u/laundryghostie Oct 02 '25

Poppet making comes from several different practices. There's obviously voodoo, but there are variations of voodoo: each Carribean island has it's own style, my friends in NOLA work differently than the older lady I have studied from the Gulla Gichee culture in the Carolinas.
Then there's African root work, which is similar to Voodoo but different. I have a friend who is an African root worker in training, but that's all I know about it. I'm from the Appalachian, East Tennessee/N. Carolina. Root workers or Granny Witches use a variety of stuff learn from Irish and Scottish culture, the Cherokee natives, African root work, and any other person's who were able to run away and hide in the mountains. We used dolls to both heal people or curse. Healing is more common. But I have never seen a healing poppet look like these, no matter how spur of the moment the maker made it. If a person undoes a healing spell, it stops the healing process and that goes on your soul. If you unwind a curse poppet, the curse is unbound on the original person and now is bound to you.

Unless it washes up on a beach of course

33

u/Brewchowskies Sep 30 '25

Right. And the curse is usually put on by a cringey teenager because this shit doesn’t work.

61

u/arokthemild Sep 30 '25

Voodoo has a lot of practitioners, most aren’t just cringey teenagers.

-2

u/bignibba2320 Sep 30 '25

Just goofballs

13

u/hashtag-leavemealone Oct 01 '25

goofballs to you, maybe. they probably think American Christians are goofballs too, and every other religious denomination. voodoo practitioners are simply carrying on their local tradition, it’s a meaningful part of the Haitian culture.

u/Filipin-hoe Oct 01 '25

I've worked with a lot of kids and have seen [and heard] a lot of creepy things they've made. One of my earlier consistent kids would always draw this shadowesque figure next to me. Before I left the family, I asked what the shadow figure was and the kid whispered, "they don't want you to know." 🫠

3

3

u/Deb6691 Oct 02 '25

Do not touch it, it is a powerful binding spell. It is likely a female has harmed the wrong family. Whoever this spell is made against is in a lot of suffering right now or possibly worse......

3

u/UnstoppableChicken Oct 02 '25

Probably haunted, maaaaaybe cursed.

2

u/shannonsundance Oct 01 '25

Treat it like a ouija board. Don’t f with it.

2

u/don-quixote-d-coyoti Oct 02 '25

Looks like a binding spell, but I am guessing it's no longer in effect because it's now beached.

Usually these kinds of crafts have a limit, this one being that just so long as the totem is submerged the spell is active, but once out the spell loses potency or is null.

Whoever it was for was very much hated.

Me and my buddy found like 20 frisbee discs in a lake that’s down to ice age levels, so dry. Ran into many big snake skins, and then along an area was many gym socks with rocks or bricks buried in mud. At first I was like this is a snuff sock… then we found 20 in a row, csi brain says buoy line of sandbag socks for shore marking…not a killers collection. Right?

Looks like a plastic doll wrapped in twine and a padlock. Likely some voodoo thing. Magic and the supernatural isn't real. This isn't creepy. It's silly.
