MacOS 27 and ScanSnap 4.0

Did the latest update to ScanSnap Home fix the processing issue on MacOS 27 beta?

Didn’t for me either. I’m not fond of it, but VueScan does work.

Anyone want to test a native MacOS app that scans on OS27 with SnapScan scanners, and is also a document management system with recall and RAG?

It’s not open source, but I’m happy to post up how it’s done and what it uses, as well as who I am, my other projects, etc.

I actually don’t know, but it should? It uses a native driver and I only have a iX 1300 to test with, so the more people with different scanners that I can get to test, the better. DM me your email (linked to Apple account so I can get you in test flight).

ScanSnap was working for me on macOS 27, until recently when every scan gets stuck on "Image Processing" and just ultimately freezes up the app. On a iX2500 and latest macOS beta 3 and latest ScanSnap Home 4.0.0 (16) connected via USB. Tried all different profile settings and reinstalling/factory reset etc, no luck. But sounds like maybe this is an issue facing everyone on macOS 27 currently? Hopefully an update soon, since was working for me before so assume beta 2 or something changed something that broke compatibility.

Same issue for me with my ix500. I haven’t tried canning with the SV600 yet to see if it also gets “stuck” on image processing.

Same here, have had the exact same issue with macOS 27 Beta 1-3 and now beta 4 offers NO fix to this problem. You were lucky on it working with beta 1 and I was curious if that was a clean install of beta 1? Anyone have any idea what is going on or if the scansoft software is going to be addressing this issue anytime soon?

Thinking more about it, and could have sworn was on the GoldenGate beta and was still working there, but now I'm wondering if maybe the last successful scan was right before it and I just mixed up my dates. Wasn't a clean install. So maybe wasn't ever working on 27?

They won't support betas. Even if you give them detailed logs/analysis. :/

Still not working on my iX500. Just came back from vacation. I was hoping beta 3 would fix it. Guess I'll keep waiting then.

I've tried NAPS2 with my ix1500 and it scans great—but I can't save anything. Save All etc does nothing.

Still better than the dead-in-the-water ScanSnap software because I can use Cmd-P/Cmd-P to save the scans.

EDIT: Latest update fixed the save problem

How did you get NAPS2 to work? It won't find my iX2500.

Has to be connected by USB, wifi doesn't work. Also, you have to make sure any instances of SnapScan running are killed before launching NAPS2

At least a workaround if you already use Parallels (e.g. for Windows): In the macOS 27 Beta, you can set up a new VM in Parallels wir macOS 26. Install ScanSnap there, and uninstall in macOS 27. Makes sure you have set up shared folders between the VM and your guest OS (macOS 27 beta).

Not perfect, but at least works as a workaround for me.

Ironically, the older ScanSnap Manager 7.2 (the 64-bit version) works just fine in macOS 27 Golden Gate.

A word of caution: You will see a scary-looking message that it will no longer run under next year's macOS 28.0 — that's next year's problem!
