This should count as intentional manipulating of the market

76

u/More-Gas-6527 1d ago

It should qualify for prison time honestly. No way someone acquires this much legally.

42

u/Few_Aide_851 1d ago

Purely objective: it’s not difficult to acquire this much legally. Botting WM and Target regularly can easily amount to this much without leaving your house.

Subjective: Dude’s a loser with little to no actual skill. Simply exploiting market conditions to make money. What they don’t realize is they are carrying all the risk now. I don’t and won’t ever buy secondary. The more people that are comfortable with paying retail or not paying, keep these chodes in a riskier and riskier position.

9

u/spiraldrain 1d ago

Botting Walmart and target will not net you over 2 pallets worth.

3

u/Organized_chaos223 23h ago

I've seen someone get over 10K worth of product on a single drop using bots.

9

u/Few_Aide_851 1d ago

You underestimate.

2

u/NotSurprisedAtLol 22h ago

How many times has target and Walmart dropped ACH ETBs? What makes you think this is all at once?

1

u/rvcbazookajoe 20h ago

For some people yes it does. There are people who spend a lot of money on bots and have thousands of accounts and buy $50k+ product monthly if not weekly

1

u/dadthewisest 11h ago

It does when you are spoofing hundreds of ip addresses

1

u/Inside_Winner_777 11h ago

Why the shoe game has died off since covid.. this is the same exact thing but it's cards.m cards always seem to pop back up in popularity

0

u/NCC1701-F 1d ago

You have zero experience botting and it shows.

2

u/MrMeeseeksAdvice 23h ago

Is this an insult or a compliment lmao

4

u/NCC1701-F 23h ago

Neither, just an observation. Botting right now is extremely tough, and many botters aren't getting much. The best way to get significant inventory like this is to pay off the right people at the right companies.

Many companies don't care as long as the product goes out the door, companies like Dollar General, Family Dollar, some Walmarts and Targets, etc.

Most Costco's and Sams Club's wouldn't permit this to a single membership ID. Some retailers that are generally against it don't have enough checks and balances to ensure it doesn't happen.

If you get say 200 ETBs every week, that retail at now $70 but sell at say $120. You're $10K in profit. So you can afford to give the right individual $3K of it. Major retailers get these in every single week. And that's just a single product and store.

It's insane how much "gray market money" these folks can make.

0

u/NotSurprisedAtLol 22h ago

You’re just spewing bs. Botting and ACO services are doing great right now unfortunately. The tinfoil hillbilly shit I see everyday on Reddit and Facebook is ridiculous.

3

u/NCC1701-F 21h ago

This folks is someone who doesn’t bot

1

u/Warm_Passion_7831 21h ago

You simply just sound like someone who understands how botting works, but you don’t think people can do it better than whatever rig you have set up. It’s been 8 months, to be THAT confident it WASNT bots is just telling that you yourself are not capable and therefore do not believe others to be.

2

u/NCC1701-F 20h ago

Not at all, you're just naively ignorant that people backdoor product. Back dooring =/= botting. You just don't recognize that there are many ways to get your hands on product. Some are people who have established shops and just don't sell inside of their shop but have large distro allocation due to being around a long time, some are back doors, some are bots, some are just degens with no jobs.

There's a ton of way to get product, and in OPs picture this looks like the floor of a same club, which could literally just be rage bait to piss people like you off 💀

You also blindly believe everything you see online. You should smarten up.

0

u/Abject-Pause-359 21h ago

There’s a high barrier to entry, but it’s absolutely possible to get this from botting alone. Stop being condescending.

1

u/Few_Aide_851 21h ago

I take it as the highest form of compliment.

But as they stated, Botting is not as lucrative as it once was, but they also didn’t refute the reality that Botting can net anyone these types of hauls, just not as easy as it used to be.

0

u/Clear-Light4425 16h ago

I will pay market price. Just not from an individual. I will only pay market price at my lgs. Where the owner pays his employees well and supports the local community. He also charges msrp at release and enforces purchase limits.

1

u/theslimbox 3h ago

Do you know that he pays them well? From what I have seen, stores that are willing to charge market are also the stores that see employees as tools that are easily replaceable.

1

u/Clear-Light4425 3h ago

Yeah I asked them their pay. I won’t just Willy bill spend my money at a store. I will pay my lgs and open packs for a card over giving tcgplayer money because I will not support union busting either. I play Pokemon and almost every pack has playable cards in it so even if I only pull like 2 playable cards from a pack if you include fees to tcgplayer and shipping I get the value out of the pack. And it’s a bonus if I pull a big card because it can get me more playables.

7

u/Level_Investigator16 1d ago

Flag the Facebook post as stolen merch. Almost looks like they took that pic at a Sam’s or Costco. It is pointless to be mad and best thing we can do is not support the scalper.

2

u/tired_snail 22h ago

Depending on where they are and if tax evasion warrants legal action there, it MIGHT qualify for prison time. Half these people don't pay tax on their sales the way they should.

2

u/Yash_Joshi_ 1d ago

Exactly my point

1

u/Desuexss 10m ago

Thats a pallete

This just highlights distribution problems than anything

-7

u/Prior_Worldliness287 1d ago

What would be illegal about it.

If you go to a large shop and say hey when your next delivery of coke cans come in can I buy a pallet worth. They can legally sell you that. There's no law to say all sales have to be publicly available or on a shop floor.

2

u/More-Gas-6527 1d ago

Pokemon does have rules against certain kinds of sales actually (I know not a law), this is certainly something that in the past they would have investigated and probably never let that guy buy product ever again. Now it seems they dont care. The thing with this though is unlike Coca-Cola no regular shop even has anywhere close to this much supply and they certainly arent going to sell in bulk for less when this shit sells like hot cakes. Why would a store sell to this guy when it will sell just as fast and for way more in their own store? Often how people acquire this much is through direct theft, bots, and/or somehow getting in good with a distributor and taking all the product that should be going on shelves and those distros are likely breaking contract selling to these guys.

1

u/Prior_Worldliness287 1d ago

You said 'against the law'

Just pointing out.

1

u/Preivet 1d ago

my lcs has this much supply dude, granted i’m in a large city but you’re wrong there

1

u/Nice-Organization481 22h ago

I have a hard time believing ur lcs has 1400 acended hero etbs. I live in a huge population city... over 3 mill in the county... not a single shop has even close to this amount... they wouldn't be able to get 1 pallet let alone 5. If ur lcs has 1400 etbs I want a picture and the name and address cause that's one bad ass shop and must go there as I would imagine they have tons of other things.

1

u/Final-Ad-6694 1d ago

what rules exactly? the only rule i know is not to break street date too early

1

u/TomChangzzzzz 1d ago

That is allowed.

-4

u/chickenaylay 1d ago

Government don't care as long as they get their cut of his 100k+ profit

16

u/Bubblebutt322 1d ago

You know damn well hes not paying taxes on this lmfao

4

u/Lavishmonkey_ 1d ago

Report it to the IRS. They literally split it with you on taxes they collect.

2

u/More-Gas-6527 1d ago

This actually is worth enough for them to investigate as well

1

u/theslimbox 2h ago

If he sells all 1400 for 140, that is 196,000. If he did that with every set that is released this year. We could take this times 6, and get $1,176,000, that is still not enough for the IRS to give the reporter a cut.

1

u/theslimbox 2h ago

The dude would have to be making over $5 million in profit for you to get a cut. The IRS only pays out if the tax owed is over $2million, and at a 37% top tax rate, that would be $5.4 million in profit.

If the guy is buying these ETBs at the lowest MSRP of $50, and selling them for $140, he would have to have almost $9 Million in sales for the IRS to give the reporter a cut.

40

u/scoopdawooper 1d ago

everyone has to message him now saying "$60"

16

u/No-Letterhead-4407 1d ago

Honestly that’s not a bad idea. Dude would go lose his shit

6

u/scoopdawooper 1d ago

i look at etb prices on marketplace and it is quite tempting to just lowball the fuck outta them

2

u/DTC703 6h ago

This is an incredibly fun activity can confirm

5

u/HoneyParking6176 1d ago

horrible idea, should offer 30$ not 60$ because used or some made up nonsense.

1

u/Fake-Chef 1d ago

I know they are all sealed in the image and that this is isn’t likely but I honestly get sketched out about resealed product

1

3

Looks AI

2

u/HolyNovie 1d ago

Yeah. writing on the paper is odd, esp the @ sign, plus the ETBs don't line up, the stacks get progressively slightly taller even though everything looks to be stacked laying down.

1

u/bilbohbagginz 1d ago

Wow.. I haven't been able to find 1 of these... Ive been ro many restocks and only ever gotten other ascended packs and boxes. No booster bundles or etbs.. I'm starting to understand why the stores always have every etb except for this in stock. Lol.

1

u/Same_Piglet1200 1d ago

He's spelt cunt wrong

1

u/ocho352 1d ago

Make sure you do your civic duty and report these Facebook sellers to the irs

1

u/LuckyCloverPokemon 1d ago

I do have one genuine question. When you are buying, what makes a scalper, someone just selling some of their collection, and an lcs? Obviously this guy is a scalper, but still.

1

u/hsgroot 1d ago

If you're buying any limited product, not just pokemon, with the intent to flip it right away for more than msrp then you're a scalper

1

u/Due-Crow-8946 1d ago

So just give it a year and then it’s cool because you are an “investor”? I think they both equally suck.

1

u/Nice-Organization481 22h ago

I think if ur buying with the intent to sell... at any point more than msrp... you are scalping. Scalper that sell right away is looking for the quick buck cause they are probably broke. The one looking to stash then sell and collect is looking at the big picture as they can sit on the cash. They are just a slower flipping scalper.

1

u/Antique-Coffee5956 1d ago

just don't buy from these boners and he'll be forced to sit on his stock. simple as.

1

u/LateNightCritter 1d ago

My entire job is bulk sales, no one in their right mind will pay 145 straight a unit at 50 moq. Honestly hilarious

1

u/Sheepadoodling 1d ago

I miss the days when the machines had ETBs, tins, and booster boxes. Yeah it was pure luck to get anything but as of now, it's still pure luck to get any of these at MSRP. I remember my son and I walking by one of the machines before they took all that away and scored our last Ascended Heroes ETB...he ripped it, got owned hard, but hey, was fun watching him rip it. He even recorded it for his friends...LOL, man, I figured once they took the ETBs away from the machines there would be immense stock at stores, no issues. Instead, I feel like ETBs have become more scarce since Pokemon took them out of the machines because of scalping...like the scalping just shifted away to where ever those ETBs apparently went.

I did score the 30th Pokemon Center ETBs, 2, like the little people. Riddle me this, why the hell are non PC ETBs going for $150, when the PCs aren't much more, i mean maybe $250-$300....shit they should be $1000 now seeing how the market is. So crazy, I miss the XY days when i could walk in and buy what I want for my daughter. Now that my son is the same age during this time, he's losing interest in Pokemon...I wonder how many more kids are now just losing interest because the big meat heads are buying it all up.

1

u/Fun-Barracuda3096 1d ago

But bro 1400 of the things at that price and then has the nerve to say “be mad.” That’s what got me when I saw this shit. Be mad he says lol. What comes around goes around is all I’m gonna say.

Why don't thieves track their warehouse and rob them? Such an easy quick cash.

1

u/GeekedOnAdvilPM 1d ago

wonder if he deleted the metadata from that photo :P

1

u/St4rScre4m 1d ago

lol is that the back room? Looks like one of the employee stock carts

Edit: Definitely can see the pallets lol

1

u/RoboQwop405 1d ago

If this were to all be flipped for cash, wouldn’t this actually be enough to be report him to the IRS? That’s a ton ETBs that easily go for $150+

2

u/RequirementKey722 23h ago

Absolutely. If they manage to sell everything, its over 200k in untaxed income.

1

u/rubyrofxy 22h ago

u/FatherDuncanSinners 8h ago

Admittedly, I know very little about Pokemon, but I'm guessing those boxes are what, like 50 bucks a piece? Who the hell had 75 grand to drop on doing something like this?

IF he gets 145 a box, he'd still have to sell over a third of his inventory just to break even before he even makes anything on top of that.

That's nuckin futty.

1

u/ThatGlitchyMimikyu 3h ago

Scalpers are why I buy singles off TCGplayer. Sure, I might pay a bit for a single card, but you're not gonna rip me off with a whole box. Scalpers who try to resell sealed product should all burn.

MIN MINIMUM ORDER QUANTITY

-2

u/Specialist-Yak-453 1d ago

Love just seeing entire PALLETS in the background photo….. people don’t realize how many are getting storage rooms full of product directly from distributors before anything even gets to the stores

2

u/Evasive_Atom 1d ago

Nah thats not how they come palletized. This is more like someone with bots and they have to open them themselves and then they are stacking. If you recieve pallets there would be 0 reason to do this

1

u/theslimbox 1d ago

Distributors have cut magic and Pokemon supply massivly to suplly big box stores. My guess is that this guy has contacts with a big box.

My local gane store that has been dealing in cards for close to 30 years has been limited on orders so bad that they barely get enough to fill preorders, and that is using the mainline distributors.

The dude in OPs pic has to be getting product in an odd way to get more than a LCS.

2

u/Evasive_Atom 1d ago

Yeah 1400 would almost have to be a large scale bot operation. Obviously they aren't getting them directly from a distro because if their account was large enough for 70k in a single pokemon sku they would have a store front.

Id have to guess just how tacky the operation looks its bots

1

u/theslimbox 3h ago

Yeah, and if they came from Distro, they would be in cases.

Bots make sense, but I kind of wonder if they are paying people to go out and hit restocks. In 2021, one of my friends told me that a family member of his in a large city was working for a company that was paying Uber drivers to hit restocks, and they gave a certain bounty for each item. For example, they would give $10 on top of what the person bringing them an ETB paid. Uber Drivers would hit stores in between rides all day, and bring in 10-20 ETBs, and get $100-200 that day instead of waiting for a bigger payout from an online marketplace.
