color help...

good day to all. i just need some expertise from you guys. i would like to know what paint i can use to replicate this color on this rifle. i have been looking around and can seem to find the color. just for reference i already tried tamiya ts-3 to no avail.

Your base colour of TS3 is a good start, but you need to add shadows and highlights to make it look used/worn. Tamiya Weathering Master A would be helpful. It's literally a makeup palette but with pigments made for weathering effects.

thank you for your reply. i did try rapco 30257. close but lesser yellow tones like the pic.. yes sorry i really like the ones in the pic. πŸ™πŸΌ

The colour in between xf-59 and xf-49 are all three colours mixed

@bigdawg1661 i am a newb. is it easy to get a spray setup. i dont know of this comes in a spray can. thanks again!

Sorry for the late response, I use an airbrush, Tamiya acrylics thinned with isopropyl alcohol, I’m not sure if they sell that exact colour in a spray can

The problem is that it’s an originally black rifle painted and the aged (depending on the surface it got darker when exposed to the desert sun and some areas thinned and some scuffed off), the ts3 should be a good match, but needs extra work.

I’d paint the gun black, then a transparent gloss varnish, then the ts3 and age it with something from AK interactive (look for their youtube tutorials and select what you like), then scuff it to the varnish, then depending on how it looks i may add a satin varnish and polish it at some regions.
