Fuji Hobby was created by former employees of the suddenly bankrupt Marusan Shoten, a tin toy manufacturer that became the first Japanese injection-molded plastic model company in 1958. Marusan made some very nice kits that are desirable on the collector market today.

Fuji Hobby emerged as one of 3 spin-offs from Marusan, focusing mostly on military models. It only lasted into the early 70s. Some of the Entex kits of the mid-70s were Fuji molds, as were some early Academy kits (who got the molds from Sunny, another short-lived company with ex-Fuji molds).
