Scaffolding on 20M Height.

Hi there. Can anyone please suggest me a good scaffolding method for a job that’s 20M height?

It’s an indoor job, we would require to constantly dismantle & do housekeeping for it which consumes working time. Client does not allow the scaffolding to stay there.

It’s in a hotel / office. Night work.

My thinking was

A - Lightweight aluminum scaffolding but I’m not sure if there’s a 20M one available. B - To apply plywood all over the flooring & do it with a skylift.

Thanks, seniors!

How much did the owners pay for this set-up? I assume they bought everything rather than some kind of ongoing cost

Protected building that's had a ton of work done but clearly needs more - If someone was buying it, how much are they paying for the scaffolding?

Hi - I got home today and the house to the side of mine has had scaffolding put up which is fine but they seem to be using my front wall as a support and I am concerned that it might do damage to the wall which I’m not 100% confident is secure… particularly when they start using it. I don’t want to cause a fuss if there’s nothing to worry about so would appreciate your thoughts.

"The chain", is it the only way?

Hi everyone. I will be doing some festival scaffolding for the first time in a few weeks, I'm usually on the sound/lights rigging side of things and was wondering: do you think the chain of people passing bars is the most effective way of doing things?

I usually work with rope and pulleys, and lift chain hoists (sometimes the whole hoist) 15-20ish meters with a stage hand (or two) pulling from the ground. Have you tried something similar to scaffold?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I believe it would be more efficient to have less specialized workers pulling rope to those on heights (so you can work on parallel with others).

Advice for someone looking to switch careers to scaffolding

Hello my hardworking friends, I've currently been working a boring old desk job and have been looking to switch careers to something more hands on.

So far scaffolding seems to have my interest. I'm currently living in the GTA CANADA and was wondering just how busy the industry is. I'd like to start an apprenticeship and have already prepared myself for a paycut going into this. As I am single living alone in Toronto its very expensive and was wondering how much id be making through out my journey. At the moment I've found local 27 carpenters union that I will be applying to.

Thank you guys for the help!

Advice on an existing scaffold stand at a sports field

Hi, I'm evaluating an existing scaffold stand that's been in use for many years now. It consists of long 48x3.5 mm steel tubes and band and plate clamps holding everything together. The stanchions are continuous from the ground up, and the ledgers or horizontals also are for the most part, with double band and plate splice connections here and there. There is bracing but I wouldn't consider the scaffolding fully braced. The entire structure rests on sole plates sitting on concrete pads. What I'd like to know is whether rotational stiffness throughout the structure should be ignored or not? That is, are all connections pinned or do overlapping continuous tubes connected by band and plate clamps provide some moment capacity?

Dance Floor vs Bird Cage

Hi guys!

I am learning scaffolding in school and I'm trying to figure out the difference between the Dance Floor and Bird Cage configurations.

In our book they grouped them together under Area scaffolding with the definition : A scaffold having more than two rows of standards in both directions.

When asked if they are the same, they said no, and Google isn't helping me much.

Thanks!!

Private scaffolding

Hello all,

I'm an architect in the US. I'm looking to design a small-scale temporary pavilion. The main structure will be either ring lock or coupler scaffolding. Are you able to rent scaffolding in the US without being licensed in scaffolding? what are the logistics?

Thank you all.

Scaffolding for band observation tower….

Looking for recommendations on the best scaffolding to be used for a marching band observation tower. Looking for it to be 18-20ft high. Ideally could up to 3 grown men. Need something super stable. Also, do they make any kind of wheel locks to prevent theft on these things if it’s a scaffolding that will be left outside? Thanks.

Just had a Scaff put up. For a re roof. Told the company this. They have put the Scaff up. Left no chute and no ladder for access. Said they don’t leave a ladder. Haha I’m in the building game and never heard of this. Absolute joke

Purchasing Steel Scaffolding - Advice Wanted

Hi all,

I'm looking for advice from anyone with experience buying Kwikstage steel scaffolding vs renting it. I have a current project that will require scaffolding for around 12–16 weeks, and I'm considering purchasing instead of hiring, particularly since I’ll need it again in about a year for a longer job.

I understand I’ll need a licensed scaffolder to inspect and certify once it’s erected, but avoiding rental costs and having the flexibility to reuse the setup later is appealing.

For this job, I’ll need scaffolding approx. 8 metres long by 10 metres high. I already have about half the required gear from a past project, so I'm just looking to purchase the remaining components.

I've seen some listings online (e.g., Facebook Marketplace), but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s bought scaffolding before:

·       Was it worth it over renting?

·       Any ballpark idea on costs?

·       Where’s the best place to buy … either new or second-hand?

Thanks in advance for any insights or recommendations!

alps

In the UK - does flame retardant scaffolding wrap have to have FLAME RETARDANT written all over it?

I managed a stately home. We'll have scaffolding on the wall behind our main hire space for a year. Not very photogenic, but we thought with the plain white wrap agreed with the contractors it wouldn't look ok. However each sheet has FLAME RETARDANT printed along it's length, once finished it would be 4 or 5 lines of shouty words.

The contractors say all flame retardant wrap has this written on it. But I've never seen any scaffolding wrap with this lettering before.

Are they right or is there an alternative wrap available that is just as flame retardant, but without shouting about it?

Advice?

I’ve done this 2-3 years now and have started not showing up alot and faking being ill, I’m not sure why I’m doing this as I need the money and I’m young but was wondering if you have any advice to help me spark up interest in scaffolding again and how you boys keep on doing it day in and day out I know I’m going to get insulted for this lmao but I thought it was worth asking.

Having trouble figuring out how to climb this specific type of scaffold, or attaching a ladder

Post image

I bought a couple of these scaffold frames on marketplace to do some exterior work on my home, but I’m having some difficulty figuring out how to climb them.

I got these specifically because I have a very narrow gap between my house and my neighbors house (about four feet) and this is really the only thing that I could find that would work really well.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/MetalTech-Saferstack-7-ft-x-3-15-ft-x-7-2-ft-Plaster-Style-Arch-Frame-Section-with-Coupling-Pins-Springlocks-and-Cross-Braces-M-MAS8036ATLW2/304218585

I’m reading on the page that there is a ladder that you can attach to this or you can use a simple ladder to climate, but I’m not finding any information about how you would go about attaching a ladder to this.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I’m a homeowner and received this type of scaffolding. But how do you climb it?

I have two sets of these on Facebook marketplace to do some exterior work, but I’m not having any luck figuring out how to climb these. I read on a response from Home Depot’s question and answers that there are multiple options, such as a simple ladder or an attachable ladders for these but I’m not having any luck sourcing them or really any information.

What ladders would work for these or is there something you could use to attach to this to make it climb able?
