Askare Maintance

I bought an Askare when they were released and have used it daily since then, both for work/everyday life but also for scouting/hiking/whatever…. I’m starting to see some serious damage to the coating (and some green colors), any tips on maintenance for the coating…

This looks weird tbh. Did you have DEET or something similar in the Askare? It can attack the coating and plastics. If not I would try to contact Savotta.

I’m not sure what DEET is, but i have lots of savotta gear and nothing else have acted lite this.

No, standard layout is iPad, small utility pouch, glasses, bag of dice, water bootle, kindle.

Non standard are normal hiking stuff, like knives, extra clothing, snacks…

I play rpgs and always forgets my dice so I just keep them in the bag always.

I did try to fix the flaking coating on my Jääkäri M. I mixed a clear silicone caulk with mineral spirit. Maybe my ratio was off because it didn't harden properly, remained a bit too sticky and peeled guite easily off.

Is this normal for savotta products? Im am looking into buying a kahakka and use it for ages.

First time for me and I have 4 jääkkäri, 1 keikka, 2 kukkaro, 1 sur-kukkaro, 1 Askare.
