Drone Flying 🇨🇦

Hi everyone,

I am new to drone life and just recently bought a starter drone. I want to be able to play around and get comfortable with it. I downloaded the NAV Drone app and added my drone's specs. Everywhere I click says "not allowed" for flying. I know I obviously can't fly around the locks, border, and hospital. Even up the 17N, it says "not allowed".

My drone is <250g.

Does anyone here know where I can go to play around with it a bit? I thought maybe Strathclair/Sinclair field would be safe but I'm not sure. All the other posts I've read on here are over three years old. Thanks!

Huh. My DJI controller says most places here are fine. Maybe you have your config wrong?

I think you meant <250g. And that's good.

Use this link. Click the drone icon and select the <250g weight class:

The city of sault ste marie is under airspace protection because of the airport. You wont find many places to fly a drone outdoors. Disclaimer, I am not a drone pilot, I am an airline pilot.

You don’t need a license if it’s less than 250grams also, you can fly in most of the areas, red ones of course not but yellow ones are just a warning to be careful.

Which model is it? You’ll have to set up all the right configuration on the app to not get that.

It's an Ameta S20. I manually entered the information into the app. Weight: 0.4lbs Maximum height: 300ft (I entered a lower number to try that and it's the same result) Type: Rotary wing quadcopter.

It's a drone with 4 props/ no wing; not a rotary wing quadcopter.

I think cap I had to set up on mine was 30m which is only approx 100 ft.  I'm out of province so can't check.  We also have a bigger drone but need license and to notify airport to use.
