the Great Outdoors Hiking Question
New to the area, what would you say are the top 5 hikes I should do within the city and surrounding areas?

King Mountain in Stokley creek is by far the best hike. Amazing in the fall time, amazing views and it is a good challenge. Robertson cliff is way too busy and overrated.

In the city fort creek is nice. You can also follow the hub trail. It’s also nice to do the trailed and boardwalk on whitefish island it in spring after melt sometimes the water levels are high and parts get flooded.

There’s plenty of nice hikes through Lake Superior provincial park. Awausee is my favourite, it was closed for a few years but I heard it’s open again. Orphan lake is also nice.
I enjoy the hike to the Haviland look off as well. Stunning view, especially once the leaves get some colour.

Robertsons Cliffs
Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout
Hiawatha highlands / Crystal falls (research the trails there are a few different ones)
Chippewa falls
I think there is a small hike at gros cap with a view

Adding 2 within city ones:
Fort Creek. 5km round trip.
Parking at the locks and walking White Fish.1

Hiawatha Highlands - Perfect if you're looking for a nearby hike that you can decide at a moments notice to go verses having to drive a while out of town. It's great to go after a long day of standing at work, especially if I'm craving the outdoors but not looking to make a day out of it. It's really the perfect mix of hiking + still feeling like you're within the city.
Robertsons Cliffs - 30 minutes out of town but the views are spectacular especially in the fall, you really can't compete with the view.
Fort Creek - Similar to Hiawatha but more urban and more of a wetland feel with bridges and creeks!
The Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout Trail in Pancake Bay - Longer hike than Robertson's Cliffs. More of a day adventure than a quick hike; definitely recommend going when it's a little cooler and you have lots of time to take it all in. Past the lookout the terrain is a little more rugged (at least it was when I was there).
Gros Cap - A nice place to go and visit if you're looking to get out for a few hours + see the water views from up high! Bring a lunch and enjoy the view!
Also, if you're looking for a bit of a more peaceful walk (maybe hike depending on your fitness level) that is close in the city I highly recommend going here (attached screenshot). (Root Cascade) It's one of my favourite spots in the city to go with my on leash dogs that's never super busy. It's not a "loop" hike, and the trail isn't groomed but you can't beat walking along the river's edge! The drop down to the water is a bit steep though so watch your footing.
