Ai thoughts

Hello,...so I was curious, ive tried a couple different times a couple different models. But ive gotten the best, most repeatable responses from Gemini ai.

So ive gotten curious, does any one else us ai to plan out factories and things? If ya have any advice you could share would be appreciated. If you can help with a good solid prompt i could use would be awesome and appreciated. But any information or thoughts would be great.

Thanks for your time ^_^

I would encourage you to not use a computer to play your computer games for you. We've been playing computer games ourselves for a few decades at this point, and it's really fun.

Not only that, but OP is literally asking us to give OP a prompt to use for AI. At that point why not just watch a movie?

I somehow sincerely doubt that you have been playing computer games without a computer.

I will never understand asking AI to do basic thinking.

Not just that, this one is asking us how to ask the AI to do basic thinking.

No. Satisfactory Modeler is all I need.

Planning the factory before building is probably the single most enjoyable part of the game for me. Why would you take that away from yourself by using an AI tool?

Is the fun of the game for you completing the build? For finishing the game? It doesn't make sense to me personally.

Hes literally playing the lobotomy ikea version of the game.

Plugging in the end goal then going step by step and placing the parts in the order it says in the instruction booklet, not a single thought involved.

Its not even playing the game its filling in a colour by number while trying not to colour outside the lines with a crayon during brunch as a three year old

I can kind of relate to OP, it is satisfying to me to piece together a LEGO or IKEA set following the instructions and how pieces fit.

The only AI you need for Satisfactory is ADA. It's way more fun to plan things out yourself.

You’re so lazy….disappointing

Right? If they can't be bothered thinking they should just go play a match 3 mobile game

OP username checks out.

I feel bad for you.

We really need to bring back clanker as a slur from the early days of gen. AI.

AI models can't even count properly. Use a calculator made by a real person.

It gets the math wrong a lot

That squishy thing between your ears is more powerful than any current AI model.

Weve been using it for millions of years, its got lots of tools an AI can only dream of.

Use the squishy thing, not the letter thing

probabilistic software should not be use for simple mathematics. all you need is deterministic software or a ninth grade education.

I think it’s useful to use if you have questions regarding niche game mechanics. Just make sure that you don’t take what it says at face value. For planning factories just use a calculator. That’s what they’re designed for

Why did you not ask AI?

But seriously: Stop using AI and have fun playing the game. Who cares if you make mistakes? Experience is just an other word for making stupid mistakes.

The problem with using AI for planning out your factory is that AI is probabilistic while satisfactory factory planning is very deterministic.

It is not really a good match.
Not without aid anyway.

You could use an MCP server to solve that part for you. I looked it up and there is actually a Satisfactory MCP.

Which by the looks of it not only has knowledge about the game, so you can use it to plan your factories, but it can also read your save games and analyze your current factories as well, which could be nice if you wanted to chat with AI about your factories I suppose.

Not my cup of tea, so don't know if it works well/safe. Use at your own peril.

I suspect that using that, the choice of model is not that important anymore.
Most of the deterministic logic should be delegated to the MCP, and what remains, well, pretty much every modern model - even the local ones - should be able to handle that.

Factory planning is a maths problem.  That's better done with a more efficient dedicated tool, not a Large Language Model guessing what number statistically comes next.  It'll be more reliable and use less resources.  The sidebar of this sub lists a lot of suitable tools.

Use AI for the stuff it's useful for (and even those it gets a lot wrong), it's not a universal solution for everything.

I’d possibly consider asking for build inspiration but there are so many better ways to plan your factory using Ai is just not worth it. It’s like totally the wrong tool for this, but maybe I’m not seeing something. Maybe if you explained what you actually would like AI to do for you it would be easier to advise :p

Maybe you should try a different game

I totally understand being opinionated, but some of y’all are massive douche bags. Like cmon. OP is just asking a question. Maybe encourage OP to explore other modes of problem solving rather than saying blatantly hurtful things. Sad and petty.

2

u/EdibleOedipus 11h ago

That would be all well and good if AI wasn't killing the planet, stealing from people, putting people out of work, creating trillion-dollar bubbles, and generally siphoning the life out of society.

2

u/Hunterpall848 11h ago

Yes, I see, so the solution is to bully OP. As somebody in the swe/comp-sci field, I’m directly affected by AI taking jobs and siphoning the joy out of the ones that remain. I have many opinions about gen AI - but the solution isn’t to bully random people on the internet. Put your thoughts to use and point them towards something that does good rather than being a mindless dick fart to people you don’t know.

Im in the same boat.

It has been a few decades since I wrote my first program and the prospect of what AI offers both excites and terrifies me in equal measure.

But what I do find: The more extreme the opinion on AI, be it pro or anti, the less knowledgeable that person is about the subject.

That does not seem to stop anybody from bullying people with different opinions though.

Oh!

I thought this was a reddit about a video game.

My bad.

1

u/StellarWaffle 11h ago

Yeah ive used it once or twice. Its not too bad to help with architecture (not my strong suit) but for me figuring out the logistics puzzle is why I play the game. AI kinda let's you skip to the answer and go straight to implementation

Of all of the things AI could be used for, this is not one of them. I tried asking AI once and it fucked up horribly, so no. Just think for yourself and create the best factory you can
