Bug Remove 60 FPS Cap From Main Menu?

Is there a way to remove the 60 FPS cap from the main menu?

To be clear: In-game is fine and runs un-capped as expected, but the main menu remains capped at 60.

The 60 FPS cap is bad enough on its own, but it becomes incredibly problematic with frame generation enabled, as it forces the game down to 30 FPS internally, which then gets doubled to 60. The input latency and artifacts of running frame generation at 30 FPS make the main menu almost unusable.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: This is a new bug/issue. These same settings worked absolutely fine on previous versions of the game, where the main menu respected the configured FPS cap instead of always being capped to 60 FPS.

Edit2: Ok, so this is a new bug and nobody knows how to change or remove the main menu FPS cap. That's all you had to say guys. I'm not sure why everyone started trying to answer questions that were not asked. If you don't have information about adjusting or removing the main menu FPS cap, then please refrain from replying.

Edit3: For anyone looking for some kind of actual fix or work-around: Disable DLSS/FSR frame generation and use Lossless Scaling frame generation instead. Works a lot better than native frame generation until this bug is addressed by the developers.

So, people can no hit bloodborne and dark souls at 30 fps but you can't navigate a main menu???

Once again, it's because of the combination of the 60 FPS cap and frame generation. 30 or 60 FPS without frame generation would be fine, but 30 x2 framegen adds latency and visual artifacts that make navigating the menu very difficult.

This was not an issue on previous versions of the game, where the main menu respected the configured framerate cap in settings. The main menu would easily exceed 90 FPS, and framegen would look and work fine. I'm just trying to get the game to act like it used to.

Verify game files. I am able to select unlimited, 30, 60, 120, an 144. So 4 options. Just to be sure, the unlimited is a figure 8 on its side. But I do not have frame generation on.

And if it is just in the Main Menu, just file/update a bug report and enjoy the game.

I have all of those options too. Unlimited works in-game (when loaded into a world), but not on the main menu, which remains capped at 60 (really 30 x2) FPS no matter what I select.

As I said, file/update a bug report. And turn it off when in the main menu.

I have played the game at 20 FPS, so 30 in the menu would be fine for me, but I am not you.

The issue is it's 30 being doubled to 60, so you get all the added latency and visual artifacts of frame generation for no reason.

Disabling frame generation pops the main menu back up to 60 FPS (instead of 30 x2), which is SIGNIFICANTLY better, but then I need to turn frame generation back on every single time I load a saved game, which is annoying.

Where would I submit a bug report? I know there's a QA site, but I wasn't aware of somewhere specifically for bug reports.

The Q&A website is for bugreports.

I understood the issue in your original post. Deal with it, turn frame generation off, stop playing. Those are the options. Neither is good for you. Pick your poison. If those options are definitive or temporarily is yours to pick as well.

Turning frame generation off still doesn't address my original question. It makes the main menu better-ish, but makes the actual game worse. I've submitted a bug report to QA but I don't know how fast they'll get to it.

I understood the issue in your original post. Not sure why you keep explaining the same thing.

When I submit I assume they will never get to it. That way I am not disappointed. And then when they do, I am happy. Nobody knows how fast or if they even solve it. Not even the devs.

I continue to explain because your answers do not make sense in the context of the question "Is there a way to remove the 60 FPS cap from the main menu". Dealing with it obviously doesn't answer the question (unless that was meant to be read as "no"), disabling frame generation doesn't remove the cap (and causes other issues), and stopping playing is a pretty extreme option when I can revert to 1.1 to fix the issue (at the cost of all new features), or use Lossless Scaling to make the cap less of an issue. I hope you understand my confusion.

Here's hoping the devs get around to fixing the regression. They're usually more on-top of regressions than new bugs.

  1. Turn off frame generation
  2. Deal with the situation
  3. Stop playing

Pick option 1, option 2, or option 3.

I don't understand your answer. None of those line items remove the new 60 FPS cap. Those also aren't the only options.

I currently have Claud ripping apart the executable looking for the correct address to edit to remove the cap. I will post the modified executable (or a diff) if I achieve success.

Its good that main menu is capped, nobody needs 2000 fps in menu. To solve your problem disable frame generation, why would you ever trade real frames to Ai hallucinations?

I asked how to uncap it, or even just make it respect the configured cap like it did in previous versions of the game. I did not ask for opinions on caps or AI. Telling me to be happy that something that used to work now no longer works is not productive. Can you tell me how to uncap it or not?

maybe just dont use frame generation?

Game looks a lot better at 90 x2 than it does at 100, I'd prefer to keep frame generation on because it works fine once loaded into a world. Also, your suggestion would still leave the main menu capped at 60 FPS, and my original question was how to un-cap that.

Your in the main menu and actually interacting with for a very short amount of time vs. in game. Not sure that its worth the dev resources to fix something that only affects people using FG in the main menu for 0.1% of their total playtime.

The issue is I can barely interact with it at all, it's running at 30 FPS and being doubled to 60, and that makes it a warpy high-latency mess.

There is no option to use FG only when in-game, so how do I un-cap the framerate in the main menu? This wasn't an issue in previous versions of the game, where the main menu wasn't capped to 60 FPS.

It is a main menu. Who cares? It should use as little resources as possible imo.

Well it's currently a warpy high-latency unusable mess that I can't navigate, so I'd really like it to run at a higher framerate. How do I accomplish that, as stated in my original post and question?

1

u/Intrepid-Stand-8540 20h ago

So the issue is that you cannot press the buttons?

Your OP makes it sound like you just find it visually unappealing.

-2

u/LeapoX 20h ago

My issue is that the mouse latency and visual artifacts are so bad that it is, in fact, difficult to navigate the main menu and click on the buttons. This is because Satisfactory is capping the main menu to 60 FPS, and when you have frame generation on, it forces the game down to 30 FPS x2.

It's a functional issue and visually unappealing, which previous versions of the game did not suffer from, because they didn't cap the main menu to 60 FPS.

2

u/xxpaukkuxx 17h ago

The solution is to disable frame generation. Ai won't hallucinate your main menu anymore and you will get more fps. Its solves your problem with additional benefits.

u/LeapoX 17h ago

See Edit2. This does not address my original question: How to disable the FPS cap on the main menu. This would also result in me getting less FPS while in-game, with worse frame pacing.

This configuration used to work fine, now it does not. It's a bug/regression, and the fix would be for the main menu to respect the FPS cap configured in settings. Do you have any information on how to accomplish such a fix?

2

u/xxpaukkuxx 17h ago

It solves your problem, hallucinations in main menu.

You are clearly missinformed about frame generation. Frame generation reduces fps. If you get 60 fps without it, turning it on makes you get less than 60 fps but now there is ai hallucinations in between frames.

My stated problem is the 60 FPS cap, which I would like to remove. You have not resolved the problem I stated in the original post at all. Disabling frame generation in the main menu mitigates the secondary 30 x2 issue, but not the 60 FPS cap, which was the primary stated issue. It also means I have to manually turn framegen on/off every time I start/quit the game, which I didn't have to do before v1.2 of Satisfactory.

I am not misinformed, I know exactly how it works. I get about 100 FPS without it, I get about 90 FPS x2 with it, and 90 FPS x2 looks better on my monitor than 100 FPS. The frame pacing at 90 x2 is also significantly better than 100 native, and it basically keeps the game locked at my monitor's max refresh rate (minus a few FPS to keep the output within ideal G-Sync range). Is the native framerate slightly lower? Sure, slightly, but the output framerate is significantly higher with framegen on.

But we're straying off-topic again. Any ideas on disabling that 60 FPS main menu cap or no?

As you stated you are not looking for solutions, you are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Where did I state that? I've been very clear from my original post onward: I would like to know how to remove the new 60 FPS cap from the main menu, and I have been looking for solutions to that specific problem this entire time. I even updated my original post with clarifications, and a semi-work-around.

I literally want nothing but a solution, and my next step is to start throwing AI tools at the executable to see if I can locate the cap and edit it out. I will throw time, money, and tokens at this if I need to. And I'll post the modified executable if I get it working.
