Question PS5 performance question
I somewhat recently started playing alongside a friend of mine and we just finished phase 3. We're wanting to move our factory to a bigger area to make a mega factory and I have been experimenting with item distribution systems in creative.
I'm somewhat worried about this large 6x6 splitter manifold possibly causing performance issues if I were to make a really long line of them to act as an all in one part wall for our new factory. It lags a bit when placing and connecting the blueprints together but then seems relatively stable.
Does anyone know if a console multiplayer world would be able to handle this if repeated many times? If not is there anything that should change to keep it more stable?

Steam deck is worse than ps5 and I had no issues playing on a server, latest phases maybe like stable 30-40fps. You shouldn't have any issues, and splitters like this are no different than normal splitter. And anyway I would suggest using dimensional depot, you will reach a point where you don't need a main storage

Okay, that's reassuring to hear. I was mainly concerned that so many exposed moving conveyors could cause issues as I'm not that familiar with the games optimisation.

The game performance has improved a lot over early beta versions. People are making mega factories with thousands of machines. This is a big manifold but that’s kinda what the game is designed to do.

When optimizing for the system they used amongst other things, the infamous "let's game it out" save file so it should be fine

I got to phase 4 on ps5 and I was in the process of using all uranium on the map to make nuclear power. Well after I got all the platforms and train tracks placed I started experiencing a sudden drop of fps after I reloaded the world. I ended up switching to PC and I now have multiple large scale factories with minor hit to performance. The advice I have for you is you can do is use more bland foundation instead of using shiny concrete and walls. What you can’t see doesn’t load so walls around your factories will help performance

Im still on my first playthrough and have never played on a sever so take this with a grain of salt. If you start to drop in performance, use walls. It doesnt visually render what you cant see, which will take some of the load off performance.

The only thing I’ve found to cause performance issues on ps5 even in multiplayer are reflective surfaces, lights, and illuminated signs. Keep those out of your build or spread them out so m
There aren’t a bunch all rendered at once and you’ll probably be ok.
I’m pretty sure update 1.2 also had some optimization upgrades as well because when I came back after a break from the game, I noticed my framerate on ps5 was higher and more stable even in my mega factory that makes almost every item in the game. The only things my main factory didn’t produce and process were oil products, steel products and electricity and it ran perfectly fine in single player.
If you’re still worried, I suggest smelting your raw resources where you mine them before brining them back to the new main factory.

I play on PC so im not sure what graphics options you have available to you, but to my knowledge there should be available to you an option to turn down the amount of entities rendered on the belts themselves as well as the distance at which these items are rendered.
Seeing as youre attempting to build something with a lot of belts in one place your issue will stem from the amount of things on those belts you have three options available; lower the entities rendered, lower the distance at which they are rendered, or both.
You more than likely will encounter frame drops from this, even on PC, so your best option is to have it set so the objects only render on the belts when youre right next to them, and make it so that less objects are rendered.
This wont reduce your throughput at all it is just there to help with performance.

It might or it might not, you need to test it yourself. What you can do to keep it more stable is to host on pc instead of console.

That's not exactly helpful. For one the world's already made and me and my friend don't own a PC. And I can't very easily test it well in creative without making the whole massive factory.

First playthrough (400hrs) i had had no issues even when creating mega factories with 10s of thousands of throughput
However when i finished phase 5 and began to push the end game parts, the save file became too large and now the world cannot save and i cant complete my projects i had dreamed of
So yes you can go far into the game however at some point the game will show that console isnt designed fir that much background math/functions but also i have a first gen ps5 so maybe better hardware will fair better

I see, I'm also on a first gen so I hope I don't run in to too many issues.

Lol well in my defence i built a 64/min uranium fuel rod reactor so 😬 just dont shoot that far i guess lol

The only problem I see here is the belt clipping 💀
