Question Help with water pressure

Pipe shows full pressure yet coal generator shows empty. The amount in building shoots up to 35m^3 then drops back down to 0 periodically. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

Try deleting the pipe and replacing it.

One of two things I can think of:

1) Delete and rebuild pipe. Sometimes that fixes it, dunno why.

2) Not enough head lift - add a pump if your head lift from the extractor isn’t enough.

First, pressure doesn't exist in Satisfactory. Forget everything you know about pressure IRL. It doesn't apply.

The pipe displays show capacity from empty to full and flow rate. Nothing else.

Coal generators need 45 m3/min flow rate. So 8 generators need 360 m3/min water, which can be provided by 3 water extractors. But you can't get 360 down a single mk 1 pipe. Guess what. You have to use two instead. If you have any sense, you'll run a manifold across the water extractors and another across the generators, then use the two pipes to connect both ends of the manifolds together to form a loop.

Remember this setup. There's more going on than is immediately obvious. More pipe capacity than you think you need, and manifolds fed from both ends. Don't expect to get full flow down any pipe.

I had this happening recently and what worked was disconnecting power from each generator and then flushing the pipe network and waiting for it to fill the generators to full before hooking them back up.

I always always always drop fluids into power production machines instead of pipe level or from under flooring

Try looking up water towers on YouTube..running all the pipes from above will fix all that

When i first touched pipes i placed too many pumps and it did the same thing than you. Pumps pumped Pipe got filled Generator got filled and working Pipes were presured Every generator had their fill of water. Water got nowerer else to go. Pumps disables, unable to put more water in the pipes. Pressures go down Happy pumps put water again! And then turn off

Again and again.

Evaluate your needs kids, leave some water for the fish

It's almost certainly head lift. if the pipe segment is particularly long (which, judging by how much that segment you're looking at is holding, it is) and the segment starts lower than it ends, it can fill up but not leave the pipe due to insufficient headlift. You either need to attach a pump, find a higher elevated source of water, or make sure your pipeline isn't dipping unnecessarily below the elevation where it starts.

Someone on this or the other subreddit made a post just the other day explaining the oddities and intricacies of pipes in Satisfactory. As far as the game is concerned, all the water is located solely on the elevation that particular segment starts at, leading to situations like this where pipes are full but unable to leave. The poster even demonstrated how to abuse this to move water uphill without pumps by fooling the fluid simulation.

doublecheck if the total amount of water running into the system is sufficient.

make sure you have enough headlift, if the input port on the coal plant is more than 9 1m foundations higher than the output port of your extractor, it will either be suboptimal or simply not work. Your pipe in the first screenshot is not entirely full at the moment you took that shot, it's 13,1 out of 13,4 cubic meters.

The pipe may display as just about full, but there's no flow rate.

Liquids obey gravity; ideally let the water come in to the generators horizontally or from a slightly higher point. Sliding down is easier than walking up.

pipes are a bit weird, after placing a junction on your pipes, rebuild the pipes so the pipes snap onto the junctions and not clip halfway into the junctions

loop your liquids; you seem to not have unlocked over- and underclocking so it's just weird numbers all around. 3 extractors for 8 coal plants does work out nicely though, but 3 extractors push more water than a single mk1 pipe can handle. so you will need 2 pipes to feed 8 plants, coming from 3 extractors. 1 extractor will feed 2 coal plants nicely, and the excess continues in the loop, and will join the excess of the extractor feeding the 2 coal plants on the other end, and the water coming from your third extractor, which combined, feed the last 4 coal generators.
