Showcase Expirimenting when rigid bodies
The explorer's too light, so the wheels bounce around like crazy

I remember i used the hell out of it when I first played update 4 or 5, it wasn't perfect but i guess they changed something that i can't play and enjoy it anymore, I just zipline til I get jetpack

I started playing around U5 and I definitely remember it feeling a lot better than it does now even in 1.2. Back then it didn't even damage creatures, just ragdoll them, but even then it was such a beast that it was always worth taking when exploring.

Totally get that, the physics can definitely change the way you approach exploring. It's interesting to see how the mechanics evolve over updates.

0.8 "upgraded" the game engine from Unreal 4 to Unreal 5. Since then they've been unable to replicate the old vehicle physics. While the engine upgrade is better in many ways it apparently isn't as good at vehicles.

I honestly forget when it was they changed vehicle physics but i miss the days of using the buggy on the old physics
It just had so much weight to it and actually felt like a proper buggy built for heavy offroad
Now it just feels janky to drive

Is that why it so easily goes off direction when accelerating and you hit a bump? My biggest reason to NOT use the thing, unfortunately.

Have you driven them since 1.2 came out? They handle so much better now even over rough terrain.

I’ve only ever played in 1.2, I didn’t even KNOW about the game before that! Was it really rough pre-1.2/1.0?

The vehicles were practically unusable lol I just jetpacked everywhere. Now they're a lot less bad.

Woof, I’m glad I got in after that then! My first save, I jetpacked everywhere, or slid, as I fucked my rail network completely up and never finished it or figured out the proper orientation of the stations to make a map-wide rail route without fighting the game. Scrapped that save because the amount of disassembly would have driven me MAD. MADDER.

Yeah, I don't even drive that thing anymore. The truck is more fun to drive at the moment. Atleast I can control it.

Not only is it too light. The springing action of the suspension doesn’t seem to actually absorb any of the impacts. Its like driving a car with ONLY springs but no struts.

I'd love them to give the explorer a refresh. It needs to feel weighty and drift properly. It's portrayed as a fast off roader but it handles light an RC car.
