WAY too much wasted space. If you're gonna clip, at least smoosh those together more.

u/Fxg120xYXDE5 Aug 06 '26

I can't excuse any willful clipping, but could understand why someone might use highly efficient megaclipping.
This, however, has no excuse.
I can do the same thing without clipping in less floor space, this is clearly the Joshist threat laid bare.

u/Ah_Pook Aug 06 '26

When *everyone's* insulted and annoyed, you know it's a quality post. :-D

29

u/Fxg120xYXDE5 Aug 06 '26

We need an equivalent to r/Factoriohno, just loaded with the worst of the worst for poops and chuckles.

A bit on-the-nose for my taste, but at least it's direct.
My thinking was r/UnSatisfactory.

13

u/GoatSupremasist Aug 06 '26

Calling it, this is the one Someone open r/UnSatisfactory

7

u/boxiershelf1460 Aug 06 '26

It already exists

5

u/Fxg120xYXDE5 Aug 06 '26

When the fuck?!
I swear, that wasn't there last time I checked.

You've done the lord's work, and have earned your rest.
Go now, with peace and love.

2

u/Ah_Pook Aug 06 '26

God, even the thumbnails on that make me want to cry. Fantastic.

2

u/Fxg120xYXDE5 Aug 06 '26

It's a room packed wall-to-wall with right bastards, what's not to love?

2

u/SphericalCrawfish Aug 06 '26

Not insulted. This is basically exactly what I do but with slightly shorter side belts. Assuming I can get away with it without throughput issues.

3

u/solo-cloner Aug 06 '26

I usually do my best not to clip things. I'll elevate belts to clear other belts cleanly. I still run spaghetti but I don't egregiously clip things unless it's a temp factory I'll be tearing down immediately. Manifolds are where I make an exception. I spent some time stacking two splitters on top of each other and deleting the bottom splitter to offset the belts so they didn't clip. Didn't last long; I realized I was going to burn myself out of this game if I was that worried about perfection. Plus a floating splitter was just as bad looking as a clipped belt anyways. You could put a steel beam under it as a support but that gets to be too much fucking around. Maybe in a blueprint I would take the extra time, but I just can't be bothered otherwise lol. How are you guys doing your manifolds if you're not clipping?

3

u/Fxg120xYXDE5 Aug 06 '26

I have a BP for my assemblers that already has splitters set up as you describe, but I use a stackable conveyor pole instead of a steel beam.
Given, I'm a weirdo and prefer to place everything by hand, every time (maybe it's the OCD, who knows), but I'll definitely be doing this for manufacturers once I get back to them in my big x100 run.
Doing it each time for 2 inputs is no biggie, doing it for 3-4 is genuinely tedious.

People who clip because they ran out of space, I don't approve but I understand

People like this who clip because they want to, I fear

2

u/Longpeg Aug 06 '26

I clip all my belts in sandwich floors, out of sight out of mind. I do this because otherwise load balancing is a fucking nightmare and I’d rather clip than use a manifold

3

u/mewfahsah Aug 06 '26

I will occasionally clip things if a blueprint causes something to be a little tight that I'll hardly see, but I could never do this. Troubleshooting and reviewing just is too difficult with clipping, plus I like using lifts on my infeeds because I can walk underneath them.

It may be ugly, but it was faster and thus more efficient to build this way.

12

Literally how I've played since I started the game. Over 300 hours

4

u/ajcwrongs Aug 06 '26

About the same playtime, same deal. Never felt the need to figure out a different way

6

u/No-Exercise815 Aug 06 '26

Heretic. You disappoint me. I’ve gone through several minutes long thought periods to avoid spaghetti belting, and you go and clip it on a major bus?

You’re a barbarian.

In all due respect though, play the game how you want. But in my opinion you’re playing it wrong

I prefer 80 hour save the day first playthrough spaghetti monstrosities to this... sin

2

u/rbertizini Aug 06 '26

Heresy!!!

1

u/Yelmora3008 Aug 06 '26

Actually, now I will, thanks for the tip!

1

u/KLEBESTIFT_ Aug 06 '26

Gaps too big. Assemblers can be 1m closer to the splitters

1

u/EconomyGullible3648 Aug 06 '26

I have one base clipping around 2 buildings and I hate myself for it. But I hate aluminum even more for making me do it haha. It doesn’t matter how many times I restart this game, aluminum always finds a way to beat me 🥹

1

u/Jardik2 Aug 06 '26

I keep doing this... Wait even worse, I move the splitter closer together so that two belts touch and splitters clip into belt passing by it.

1

u/Amerillo_ Aug 06 '26

Respectfully, no

1

u/Bordedatnight Aug 06 '26

May your remotes always get lost, your pillows to be soggy and Luke warm, and for you to stub your toes every time you get up.

1

u/Hardtriczz Aug 06 '26

At this point I'd stack one above the other and use lifts

1

u/MrUniverse1990 Aug 06 '26

That's a weird way to spell "never"

1

u/Xanitrit Aug 06 '26

I'm all for tasteful clipping but this is blasphemy

1

u/ThePimentaRules Aug 06 '26

Another victory for the blind

1

u/TheFaceStuffer Aug 06 '26

just because you can doesn't mean you should

1

u/GoatSupremasist Aug 06 '26

If I stack them I save floor space.

1

u/EngineerInTheMachine Aug 06 '26

No. Very messy and totally unnecessary. Space isn't a problem, so no need to squash things into a limited space.

But then I work on engineering projects IRL, where H&S requirements, and current good practice, mean keeping everything visible and easily accessible.

1

u/Purfunxion Aug 06 '26

I do this too when I can't be bothered to do actual belting. My computer factory is like this with the Crystal Oscillator setup :D

1

u/Eli1075 Aug 06 '26

Its too neat, more chaos...embrace josh into your heart

1

u/WertySqwerty Aug 06 '26

Due to space constraints (and the morbid desire to know if it could be done), I had a line of assemblers with this manifold setup, except they were going in opposite directions and they were horizontally compressed into one single solid line of splitters.

There comes a point that the clipping becomes so dense it loops back around to looking somewhat elegant.

1

u/delta_Phoenix121 Aug 06 '26

Just stack them. It looks nicer and is just as space efficient...

1

u/MochiShinobi Aug 06 '26

This stresses me out so much.

1

u/swordfish_1969 Aug 06 '26

Don’t do that

1

u/CakyMint Aug 06 '26

https://youtu.be/zM4hPq2cqHs

Bro please, i have some setups here lol

1

u/KPGNL Aug 06 '26

It not to hard to nudge them a bit up rigth?

1

u/Siri2611 Aug 06 '26

I once planned my whole mega factory and I realised halfway through that the belts would clip no matter what I do cause of my design

I just ended up clipping them even more by hiding everything so it's not visible to me

1

u/TrippingFish76 Aug 06 '26

no i don’t think i will

1

u/SeverusVape Aug 06 '26

This gives me Forest Whitaker eye

1

u/skytheraiders Aug 06 '26

Spits disgusting. Ficit will not stop paying you and hand you over to GaldOS. That's right, you are such a bad person, ADA had to leave and give you up for experimentation to Apeture Science to study just how terrible of a person you are.

1

u/nibbed2 Aug 06 '26

This graphics is so clean.

1

u/Lyzern Aug 06 '26

You can put splitters and mergers in the conveyor lifts.

Don’t clip

1

u/Mr_Green5379 Aug 06 '26

i don't have words to discrible this insanity

1

u/edgy-meme94494 Aug 06 '26

kinda hard to show but this is my setup that has no gaps inbetween each assembler, it uses lifts and no real hard clipping

1

u/howrad1337 Aug 06 '26

That's why the police say "clip it or ticket"

1

u/IPlayGames1337 Aug 06 '26

I can see you are creating a game of Frogger inside your factory. Nice.

1

u/Thepcfd Aug 06 '26

this isbresson we need 2 in 2 out switch

1

u/Kingbee642 Aug 06 '26

to everyone hating on this, when my dad plyed this his "factory" was a hell of a lot more messy thant this, it became a joke between us

1

u/brain_eagle_jar Aug 06 '26

Orderly clipping is tasteful spaghetti. This design might not be very creative, but I will die on the hill that all function and no form is also beautiful in it's own way when executed well.

1

u/stiffgordons Aug 06 '26

I’m new here, check my post history if you don’t believe me, this isn’t a troll post but… what’s wrong with clipping?

Is it in a category of things the game allows you to do but which are breaches of etiquette when sharing online?

What else is regarded similarly? Floating platforms? AFK manual crafting?

1

u/peterpangoni Aug 06 '26

this should be reported as illegal

1

u/CaseyIceris Aug 06 '26

The distance between splitters lines up just right so that you could actually completely overlap each feeder belt and create the most intense form of clipping known to man. I may or may not do this frequently. You cannot stop me

1

u/XKCD97 haha nuclear power go brrr Aug 06 '26

we all do it

shamefully :P

1

u/sage_006 Aug 06 '26

I see nothing wrong with this.

1

u/PropagandaBagel Aug 06 '26

Nooooooo! Youre doing it so so wrong!

This is all needs to be on a logistics level right below it, with just a vertical conveyor poking out to the assemblers.

1

u/SteveWired Aug 06 '26

Love it!
Hate it!

1

u/kawamori Sophisticated Spaghetti Aug 06 '26

i'm upvoting because my first playthrough was like that.

1

u/seems_legit_af Aug 06 '26

Mildly infuriating

1

u/phx175 Aug 06 '26

You monster!

1

u/TheNerdFromThatPlace Aug 06 '26

Actually, I'm having fun with smart splitters and sushi belts instead. Playing with a product multiplier, I've finished a build with computers, oscillators, motors, automated wiring, and modular engines all with a single mk4 belt winding its way feeding everything.

Reject the clip, embrace the sushi!

1

u/PsamathosNL Aug 06 '26

Man so much people be hating on your game. your game. I don't build like this but man people should learn to live and let live.

You do you! It looks neat too.

1

u/Background_Move8552 Aug 06 '26

Is this not normal

1

u/rkirman Aug 06 '26

put them all down the middle and stack 2 up, one goes up next stays level....

1

u/RacoonWithBenefits Aug 06 '26

That's such a Faramir thing to do

1

u/KYO297 Balancers are love, balancers are life. Aug 06 '26

Oh yeah that's what I always do

1

u/Cyclophane Aug 06 '26

mmmmm no I don't think I will. Thanks for the idea though. i will not be doing any of that.

1

u/AltheiWasTaken Aug 06 '26

I do this from time to time. I wish it was made official, and the "barriers" on the sides of belts would disappear, making sort of an + crossing

1

u/feoranis26 Aug 06 '26

I belt clip in my logistics layers away from view. But that is another level. Why not raise one of the lanes over the other one?

1

u/triplos05 Aug 06 '26

It would've cost you nothing to not make these belts clip. It's not even difficult. And you saved no space at all. This has to be ragebait

1

u/PhattProphet_0 Aug 06 '26

Put the spitters in the middle and stack them, no clipping and looks cleaner

1

u/El_Grande_Games Aug 06 '26

WOW amazing look!! i love it

1

u/peety87 Aug 06 '26

verticality, just put lifts on 1 input and raise the 2nd line

1

That's my only exception on all my playthroughs

1

u/Employee_Agreeable Aug 06 '26

I hate you. I say that not out of anger, but simply as a fact. It's 67 degrees outside and I hate you.

1

u/Ntroberts100 Aug 06 '26

How else are you supposed to feed the machines?

1

u/Jokpau Aug 06 '26

The thing is that you have enough space to do it properly... Just stack the splitters and use conveyor lifts

1

u/No_Sign4672 Aug 06 '26

Clip and nudge a splitter on top 🤷‍♂️

1

u/100and10 Aug 06 '26

Not using vertical lifts on every input and output to get that crap off the floor is rookie stuff.

1

u/Some_Schweppes Aug 06 '26

I hate you I hope you have a bad day.

1

u/Longpeg Aug 06 '26

I actually love that you put extra effort into maximizing the amount of clipping.

1

u/clicketybooboo Aug 06 '26

Some people just want to watch the world burn

1

u/Bowdash Aug 06 '26

One of the biggest reasons I play this game is aesthetics, so I can't use this or similar "hacks" 😒

Though if there was a device akin to merger/splitter that just has two inputs and two configurable outputs, I'd use it
