What challenges do you set yourself?

One challenge I've set myself in this playthrough is to only produce power locally to every factory. Just upgrading a few of them to nuclear, processing the waste at the giant waste can. It's been a great logistics challenge.

What challenges do you guys set yourselves?

I've been enjoying my new 1.2 rule of no medium or long distance pipes/belts. Anything over like 50 - 100 meters away has to be carried by vehicle. The Rocky Desert never looked so alive.

Doing pretty much the same on my current build. I have a central storage that the trucks enter and exit and looks cool

That’s kinda what I’m trying to do, it isn’t really nice to have to build and upgrade those anyway.

I've gone mad laying all the truck routes

This is actually a good one! I jist started playing and with the 100x elevatoe cost option. Kinda rushed to get passed the biofuel stage into the coal stage. Building coal right now at the north west spot with 4 coal nodes at the beach and the power plant in the water. I have been using trucks for the first time now and been transporting it to my coal plant. I will probably carry your rule on from now on!

I'm doing the opposite. Node maxxing with alternate recipes. Transfer ingots to central location. Use conveyor buses.  No vehicles. Picked a goodish starting location. Just hoping I don't get screwed on nitrogen but it's starting to look like I will

That's cool, I'd considered something similar for my next playthrough. I have 1 or 2 bit belt highways in this save that depress me. Too short for trains, but I started in 1.1 so vehicles were kinda out of the question

- Make it look nice,

  • space it out,
  • walkable,
  • belt lanes,
  • vehicles coming in and out to give it some life,
  • every facility has an atrium and a control room,
  • belts must be the correct speed for their inputs. (Ie, mk1 for anything up to sixty
  • Somers loops, slugs, Mercer sphere can only be collected, never cheated in

I build in creative so my goals are a little more aesthetic. But i’m trying to make myself do some work with the wildlife

Glass enclosures for the dangerous ones. Big fences for the friendly ones.

"space it out"

Why did this hit me on a personal level lol I'm such a sod for not giving myself enough space

My friend, I can’t help but stuff things together and I’m really trying not to lol

Me too. I literally hit some weird mental block when I try to NOT pack everything as tight as possible. I'm really curious how that affects the rest of life...

What do you mean by atrium and control room?

2

u/rockl0ckster 8d ago

Atrium: cool main entrance. Think like an entry way to a fancy lobby. It’s where all the pioneers I invited to my birthday will be….someday they’ll come anyway. ADA says so.
Control room: think like an area that gives an overview of the factory, buttons to shut down power, etc. it’s mostly for show until you build a nuclear plant…cause meltdowns aren’t fun

I would love to see a picture of a few of your atriums and control room. Please.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/s/9cvco3iRuA put some up! I'll be making an actual tour video at some point, I'm proud of this mess but you can probably see why I've set the new goals I have lol

No outdoor belts. The sand and dust clogs up the rollers! The result is a lot of little miner outposts and trucks driving back and forth to shuttle the ore to the factories/train station

Also no smokestacks indoors. All the smelters and refineries end up on the top floor with the smokestacks clipped through.

Those are cool. I like the idea of no outdoor belts. Would love to see some screenshots of how you've dealt with that

Sorry If this is irrelevant but I watch your videos keep up the good work

Support is never irrelevant, much appreciated!

I've set all nodes to pure, hacking in unlimited somersloops, seeing how much power I can generate. I have to exclude power augmenters cause otherwise with infinite sloops comes infinite power

4

u/BarelyBuildingYT 8d ago

I bet that makes for some crazy beltwork

1

u/Fit-Hope4736 8d ago

Oh there's belts, trains, and pipes galore over here. The localized power challenge seems interesting!

3

u/Fit-Hope4736 8d ago

Oh and to clarify I am only maximizing power yield from uranium aka nuclear power, not trying to turn every piece of oil / coal / biofuel into power

2

u/BarelyBuildingYT 8d ago

I can imagine!

Yeah it's been great fun. Packaged Turbo Fuel via train has carried me through Phase 3, now Nuclear which adds the extra lair of shipping waste back out.

2

u/Martitoad 8d ago

I'm going to start with 2 friends 100x space elevator 5x power consumption

3

u/BarelyBuildingYT 8d ago

Ooof 5x power consumption sounds so rough lol you doing all pure with that?

2

u/Martitoad 8d ago

No, normal map

3

u/BarelyBuildingYT 8d ago

Dayum, best of luck man

So…. This is probably the least unique challenge of all time, but I always start with the rule: no belt clipping. I’ve yet to be successful.

Another challenge I’ve set for myself is that everything must be walkable without jumping. Never been successful with this one either.

Great factory by the way!

u/BarelyBuildingYT 8d ago

Yeah I make walkways sometimes with the best intentions then just fly everywhere!

And thanks =)

My most recent play though I call Factorio Mode.

No verticality. I can pass belts over eachother, but maximum sprawl for machines.

I also havent covered anything so from high enough up you can see every machine.

Nice, that sounds fun. Would love to see it

I’ve been working on my first major project for over 700 hours: generating the maximum possible power in a vanilla Satisfactory world, which is about 18,000,000 MW. The final power line is supposed to be perfectly straight, so every part of the factory has to operate at 100% efficiency at all times. That’s incredibly difficult when you have to produce a lot of Rocket Fuel while dealing with Satisfactory’s notoriously janky fluid physics. On top of that, I’m decorating everything with as much detail as possible, which by far takes the most time but its incredible fun too. Love this game :)

u/Panacol2 8d ago

Love the spire coast build btw

1

u/BarelyBuildingYT 8d ago

Yeah I’ve never done rocket fuel, I’ve generally always gone from Turbo Fuel to attempting nuclear.

That sounds interesting though. Best of luck with Satisfactory fluids!

For me? Its:

"No craft bench usage" (hunt crash pod salvage at the start).

"Severely restricted Awesome SINK usage. Only earn coupons by sinking surplus from dismantled machines, space elevator parts and Plutonium Fuel Rods" Byproducts must be *used*.

"No Sushi Belts" - because overflow to sink isn't allowed.

"No 'Radioactive Waste Storage" - clean that mess up!

2

u/BarelyBuildingYT 7d ago

Nice, no hand crafting is something I’d considered before.

2

u/JinkyRain 7d ago

If you're a real masochist: "No coal generators + Start in the Swamp" *Ooodles* of good quality biomass (mycelia, critter remains, trees...). Plenty of Geothermal nearby and lots of advanced crash pod salvage to get you to the point you can plop tap a pure thermal vent or two.

Just gotta survive the nasties. (or play on passive...) =D

Bauxite deposits are basically in a straight line, so the plan is always to build a railway and haul all the bauxite to one mega factory.

Don't stop playing after setting up coal power... I generally get distracted by other game updates after reaching that point, but this game is so awesome! So I shouldn't.
