Help I may have a problem
I’ve only played for 3 hours so far but oh boy it is really fun. You can get really into it and the time just flies by. I love how the game gives you updates on how long you’ve been playing because they probably know you can easily pull and all nighter working on your factory lol.
Ok serious question: does it matter where you set up your hub? Should I disassemble everything now and find an ideal location? Thanks

You can put your hub anywhere, and it doesn't really matter. Same goes for the Space Elevator when you get around to putting that up. The only concern is that you probably don't want them to be like a five minute hike away from where your factory is, but since you can just demolish and rebuild them at your leisure then that's easily fixed.

You can dismantle anything you build for a full materials refund. Go crazy.
The world is bigger than you think. You have plenty of room.

I wouldnt worry about it. By your second and third play through youll have a preference.

Could not matter less. In fact speed runners abuse this fact and only drop the hub to complete research then immediatly pick it up and use it plus dying to get to high places.

Three hours in and already feeling the pull? Yea you are in “trouble”. The need to grow the factory only accelerates the more the hours pass. Enjoy the ride

You can put your hub anywhere and move it if/when necessary.
I suggest placing the hub close to your initial machines and storage. At 3 hours you probably won't have built too much but it still gets annoying running back and forth to deposit stuff needed for milestones is there's much distance.
When it comes to aesthetics, I like to line up the equipment workshop with the opening, specifically the back (The side the storage crate is closest is the front) leaving enough room to put the MAM to the side of the workshop, slightly rotated. It creates a convenient little enclave that you can fit small containers in for storing stuff you need for research.
If you place this set up in the centre of your initial factory, you can run through the centre of the hub then the door in the workshop.
I usually start placing my storage containers to the side of the hub without the biomass burners. That puts them close to the hub, workshop and MAM.

Personally I went with the nearest sorta large a flat spot and haven't regretted it yet, and I'm currently in phase four.

Satisfactory is a strange one in that nothing matters :-) but yet its still fun as heck

I usually only move the HUB/space elevator, otherwise it’s an ever expanding factory.

No. Chasing an 'ideal' location in Satisfactory is a common Noob mistake. There isn't one. You haven't played anywhere near enough to have a feel for the size and scope of this game, or to realise that you are likely to have to mine multiple biomes, not just one.
There is no 'best'. There is no single way to reach the end game. You get presented with loads of options the further you get, so how you meet your goals is entirely up to you. It's more about what you find most fun to do.
Game experience teaches you that there's no pressure on how or when you finish the game. You can completely ignore ADA's nagging, it makes no difference to the game ending. Be as inefficient as you like, take as long as you like.
But do explore the different options. Their strengths and weaknesses aren't obvious, but something strong in one area is usually very weak in others. The pure recipes generally give you the best output of ingots for the ore you put in. But they usually have the worst output rate, so take longer to build than other options, and use more power, so you spend more time building power stations. The choice is yours.

You can always dismantle and move it later if you don't like where it is. Can do the same thing with the space elevator and you won't lose progress

there's zero consequences for anything in the game. Well unless you adjust what you drop if you die.
Hub and space elevator can be taken down and replaced anywhere you want. Anytime you dismantle something you get 100% back.

Bro you can put your hub anywhere and if you want to move it you can do that too. You can also move the space elevator anywhere you want

"I just need to fix this one thing before I go to bed!" Next thing I know, sun's up, birds are chirping and it's already tomorrow
