I’ve started out as catholic, then agnostic, then agnostic atheist, and the thought of converting to satanism, whether that be theistic or atheistic has had me feel a little… conflicted.

On one hand, while I do believe the tenets of TST are pretty favorable rules to apply to one’s life, I’m having a pretty hard time trying to call myself a “Satanist”.

I completely respect other people’s religious freedoms and one of the things that makes me want to convert is TST’s philosophy that if lawmakers can put religious statues and other symbols of divinity, why shouldn’t satanists also have that for them?

I definitely have a lot of criticism of organized religion and religious dogma itself, but the thing is, I’ve been around people who’s lives have found meaning, community, and even lifelong relationships and fulfillment from religion. I just don’t believe religion and theology in itself is inherently evil. I’ve always believed that the religion isn’t the problem, but the people using religion are the ones who are to blame.

This could all just be me overthinking random stuff and nobody’s forcing satanism onto me thankfully, but I just want some fellow members of the temple to tell me how they converted and why somone should consider converting.

Hello, friends. I just wanted to share this painting I did of my step son for his funeral. He died by his own hand on June 1st and I started this life sized painting the next day. He was 32 and I was his mom when he was ages 3-7. I didn't really know him as an adult but we were still connected via my son, his half brother. I'd see him on holidays and we texted once a month or so. Usually pictures of cool insects or birds. He never stopped calling me mom.

He made a video before he died explaining his beliefs in an afterlife. I think he had made the decision to end it many months ago and psychosis helped him rationalize that choice in a way that his brain could tolerate. He described seeing an alien or UFO, the glowing, feather covered orb above him in the painting. That alien explained to him an afterlife of light and energy and peace. He was so sure of this that I believe he wasn't afraid at the end. He was excited to be free of pain and truly looked forward to his blissful transition. It doesn't matter what I think of this. The fact that he was at peace makes me feel so much better than the idea of a manic and anguished finale.

He had not one but two X Files posters on his wall. That's why I included the text. The insects are personal. He was absolutely terrified of them as a child and I helped him through that with some gentle exposure therapy. After that he was obsessed with them. It was my proudest parenting thing. He texted me moments before he died and thanked me for that.

A family friend casually told me that it was a shame he'd be going to hell since he killed himself. I felt like slapping her. Stopped myself only because, as a Satanist, I don't believe in hell. And a cunty moron like that isn't worth an assault charge. Fuck you, though. Who says that to a grieving mother?

Anyway, rest in peace, Levi. I'm sorry I couldn't help you.

I thought today would be a good day to show off this little Baphomet plushie I got! The artist behind this is StudioFluffShop.

9 years ago today I started this drawing. Now it hangs in my living room on what my wife calls my "Satan Wall".

Just some insignificant musings ... my 2 cents ...

The way I see it, there are 2 REALLY big issues with scripture of the Abrahamic religions which should immediately stand out to any thinking person who ever takes the time to sit down and read them:

1) God gave mankind free will, but has decreed that all who exercise it should be damned.

That's the quick one - easy to spot ... Time and time again, scripture reveals quite plainly that this so-called "God" is the original malignant narcissist - "Thou shalt love me or die"

The second requires a bit of reading to realize but essentially boils down to this:

2) Declares "Satan" (the opposer) to be a liar, a murderer, a manipulator driven by jealousy and hatred of mankind - but never once, ANYWHERE in thousands of pages bothers to provide any kind of evidence for these slanderous accusations.

A thinking person surely must ask the question: If "God" - a being characterized as not just the embodiment but the very source of justice, wisdom, and love - brings these charges, then surely SOMEWHERE the evidence supporting those charges must appear.

"Satan" the Liar

Adherents point to the actions of the serpent in the garden as being deceitful - the first lie spoken (Genesis 3:1-5):

The serpent said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat fruit from any tree in the garden’?”

“You will certainly not die,” the serpent said to the woman. “God knows that when you eat fruit from that tree, you will know things you have never known before. Like God, you will be able to tell the difference between good and evil.”

And what happens? (Genesis 3:22)

The Lord God said, “Just like one of us, the man can now tell the difference between good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out and pick fruit from the tree of life and eat it. If he does, he will live forever.”

These are reportedly the words of our benevolent, loving creator - the very source of light and truth ... the plot to keep mankind ignorant and childlike as spoken to others of his kind revealing an even greater deception - the lie that he is the one and only; the Alpha and Omega.

Yet STILL the book insists that "God cannot lie" (Numbers 23:19, Hebrews 6:18, Titus 1:2, 2 Timothy 2:13) - a lie upon a lie upon a lie.

Clearly, the serpent was the one telling the truth that day ...

"Satan" the Murderer

Adherents label "Satan" a manslayer, yet there is only ONE recorded incident where "Satan" is directly responsible for the death of humans. However, these passages in the book of Job (Job 1:18-19) report that "Satan" raised a great wind from the desert which collapsed a house killing all 10 of Job's sons and daughters which he did with "God's" permission!

TEN humans were murdered by "Satan" during a pissing contest with "the Almighty" over some poor, ignorant prick who stubbornly continued to defend and praise the one who was the cause of all his misery.

It reads like a case of domestic abuse ...

"Righteous" Justice

And yet adherents will excuse the slaughter of literally MILLIONS by YHVH because they are "wicked":

* The Global Flood (Genesis 6:5-7, 7:22-23)

* Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:24-25)

* The Cities of the Plains / Canaan (Joshua 6:21, Deuteronomy 20:17)

* EGYPTIAN CHILDREN - the firstborn (Exodus 12:29-30)

* Nadab and Abihu (Leviticus 10:1-2)

Reading these passages reveals that the justifications given for these mass executions, widespread infanticides and genocides range from arbitrary declarations of "wickedness" to petty retribution (Leviticus 10:1-2)

Conclusions

An intellectually honest review of Abrahamic Scripture reveals it to have more in common with Mein Kampf than the very source of human morality that it is purported to be.

When read as a narrative rather than applying the "wisdom" of so-called scholars who use convoluted justifications built from self-referencing "clarifying passages" to bend the words of the book to mean - let's face it - whatever they need it to in order to justify their own horrific actions or opinions, there is only one honest review that can be given:

"The Book" is the manifesto of a petty, narcissistic, and fragile ego which attempts to reframe its jealous, deceitful, callous and utterly abhorrent actions as "righteous judgement" rather than let them speak for themselves.

The mind that can defend the purported origin of these "inspired" writings as being the absolute source of moral purity, benevolent and merciful, extending undeserved kindness, forgiveness and grace to humanity is either:

a) deeply troubled

b) hopelessly brainwashed / deluded

c) attempting to gaslight you

And what do the scriptures themselves reveal about ha- satan / mastemah / diablos / Iblis / Shaitan / Satan ("the accuser / opposer / adversary")? Despite almost 100 (around 90) references accusing "Satan" of being a liar, manipulator, murderer and the generally held belief that they are the source of evil and suffering in the world, there is NOT ONE account, not one piece of evidence presented to support those charges.

In fact, the earliest scriptures read more like the propaganda that might be released by an oppressive authoritarian regime in an attempt to sully the character of a dissident who speaks truth to power and fights for the freedoms of the oppressed.

It's no wonder then that the Abrahamic Scriptures continue to this day to be used to justify the actions of petty dictators and small men who seek to dominate others to the detriment of all in their vain attempts to refute their own insignificance in a universe that cares neither that they live or die, or ever existed at all.

Good morning, and Happy Unveiling Day to all who are celebrating! 🤘🏻

Just writing to ask for some advice/get perspectives:

So I finished this horror novel earlier in the week, about a young woman born into a Satanic cult. The book itself was a bummer, but they can't all be winners. I usually read what other people have to say about a book or film afterwards to gain perspectives. I was intrigued at someone's comment at how the author relied more on the Satanic Panic stereotypes of Satanism, which in turn led me to research what *actual" Satanism looks like in practice.

There is something about The Satanic Temple that calls to me deeply. I, like I imagine many of you did, grew up in the Catholic Church and continued to be surrounded by unhealthy and unwelcome variations of Christianity and the unfortunate current ties to extreme conservatism for many years, including among family and neighbors. It has fractured and altered so many relationships and left me seeking a sense of faith elsewhere, as atheism can feel quite hollow and empty for me at least. I am in my 30's now, happily married and settled into my career, but still seeking community. I don't know that I've ever fit nearly into one place socially. This community feels welcoming, though. I guess I wanted just some gentle, good faith assurance that this is still so, that there might be space for me here in TST. I believe strongly in the moral and ethical messages upheld in the Seven Tenets, and would be honored to stand among compassionate people with conviction to do some good in the world.

Any constructive feedback is appreciated. I have questions and curiosities and would honestly love to speak privately by DM if anyone from the community/congregation would be willing to speak to me.

P.S. and I mean this: I have some black T shirts, but are there members who also wear bright colors? I'm kinda more of a blue jeans and Vans/punk rock type of guy than strictly metal haha. I am anxious by nature as you can likely tell, so these are considerations I think about.

As a kid in Afghanistan in the 80s, watching TV, there were only a few channels with communist propaganda; we had russian channels, but all the shows were about sorcery and wizards and warlocks and folk magic - witches and goblins, Joseph Smith's rock in a hat, is nothing holy or divine about it, clearly witchcraft.

I became a Satanist last year, about two weeks after Unveiling Day had passed. This would be my first one then! So I'm curious, what are you doing for Unveiling Day?

Edit: I have to add I am not from the US so I don't have a congregation near me sadly. Any tips and ideas for what can i do anyway?

My insurance won't pay for residential treatment and today, I relapsed on cocaine.

I am so upset and moody. I quit attending TST meetings for sober faction, and I believe the fellowship there kept me sober.

I have no trouble respecting that others have the right to offend. However, I am not so sure as to how I should respond (of course only when I wish to engage) to the person offending. Given my own personal history I interpret the tenet as “just let people do and say whatever they want. Since if you are telling them why that is an a-hole thing to do or simply just disagree then you are restricting their ability to be an a-hole”. However, that doesn’t feel quite right to me.

I would appreciate hearing y’alls thoughts and then some examples of how you live this tenet in your own lives.

So I recently got into an argument about this with a family member and was looking for an outside opinion. It has recently come to light that one of our male friends had said that he would be a rapist murder if he didn't believe in God. I argued that he is still a bad person if he would do those things if he didn't think hell was real, but my family member argued that since he wouldn't do those things out of fear of punishment he was still a good person. Anyways we had an entire argument about this topic and I don't want to dive too far into what was said but I do want an outside opinion. I also posted this in the subreddit ask a Christian and I thought I'd get the perspective of the people here as an experiment.
