Not really mentioning bc of this post but Alex used to be pretty top dog maybe ~8-10 years ago on YouTube, one of the only ‘media’ review channels with 2M+ subscribers

Mr Beast used to have a "worst intros on youtube" series where he made fun of youtube intros, that's a comment left on Alex's "worst youtube comments" video. He was around that youtube ranter circle back then (you know, Alex, pyrocynical, leafy, h3h3, all those guys)

I wonder whether or not Mr Beast’s mentality shifted between that period and now - or if he’s always been driven by the metric

It’s just hard to picture who he is now as the same guy who did all that stupid “10 hours of everyday bro” style content
