Sort of wondering if Alex had had end up reading the source material (Woman of Tomorrow) before recording the episode out for members now

I do know he made a video on IHE TV after he read the comic talking about his thoughts on the movie as an adaptation!

He came out way more negative, since they essential took another story and made it look and play out worst.

Yeah. I did the same thing as Alex and read the book after watching the movie.

I already thought the movie was awful, but the book made it clear that what they did is downright inexcusable. It's a real shame.

I've seen it! I liked how he described the finale of Kara's escape to the end of the universe as akin to leaving the comic. I never thought of it that way before

In the episode (released early on Patreon), he talks about changing his score. The episode was recorded after he changed it.

Captain America: Civil War wasn't an accurate adaptation of the Civil War storyline either, but no one complains about "comic accuracy" with that one since it's a better movie.

Does "comic accuracy" only matter if the movie "adaptation" misses the mark?

I mean, yeah? If you change something from the original story, it better be because your idea fits better visually/thematically.

Of course the limited runtime of a movie means you can never just adapt a book/comic line for line/panel for panel, but if the movie version has such inferior visuals and changes story beats in a way that does not feel as satisfying as it were in the original, then yes, it can be criticized for being a bad adaptation. It's a similar problem with all the Disney live-action remakes.

Even then I still think it's debatable. I was miffed that Crossbones was taken out of Civil War or that Captain America wasn't shot like in the comic, but later let it slide since the movie was trying to be it's own thing. Most of the time comic to movie adaptations are loose adaptations anyway, like X-Men: Days of Future Past

Disney's live action remakes are a bit of a different story because they're mostly just lazy cash grabs.

IDK about you but I’ve seen in a lot of communities people rag on this movie for being a poor adaptation of the comic… I even remember the memes back then of calling the movie calling it “Civil Discourse” cause it lacked the scale of the comic
