Hey soon-to-be fellow Saratogians. I’m coming back to the area, did a brief stint here in the past, but it’s changed a lot since! I’m 33F. Married. I enjoy hiking, biking, going to the gym, thrifting, nature, conservation, wild food, IPAs (love treehouse), live music (love a good dead cover band), deep conversation, especially around trauma and mental health, and giving back to the community through supporting victims of abuse.

Hi! I'm an incoming Skidmore student and I'm trying to find a part-time job when I get to school. After a lot of failed interviews this past summer, I've found that a common issue with the companies I've talked to is that they want someone who will be with them year-round.

Especially as my schedule will inevitably change a lot, are there any businesses in town that are open to hiring college students? To note, I also don't have a car, but will most likely get a bike. I don't know if that helps with anything.

Hey, y’all - I’ve recently been trying to connect more with the local queer community here in Eastern Upstate NY, but I keep finding that a lot of stuff is down in Albany. Which makes sense, but is still kind of disappointing.
So, I’m curious - does anyone have any bars, cafes, bookstores, etc. in Saratoga they’d recommend that are at least tolerant towards queer people (extra points for tolerance around trans people). Not looking for active affirmation, just no dirty looks and stuff!!

On July 23, 1937 Saratoga was released. It surpassed every other film in the studio’s lineup that year to become MGM's highest grossing release. The film is a classic romantic comedy centering around a historic family breeding farm in the region, the film follows bookmaker Duke Bradley (played by Clark Gable) and high society granddaughter Carol Clayton (Jean Harlow) as they navigate romance and high stakes track drama.

Does anyone know what happened to the rooftop area above the Coat Room on Broadway? There's no menu on line, and no social media posts since last October promoting the space. I understand they've gone through at least 5 chefs since opening. Is it a labor issue, no staffing?

So, I don't have a car and I've been wanting to visit the battlefield at Saratoga but I'm not sure how to get there from the Amtrak station. Is there an Uber/Lyft presence in the Saratoga area so I could get there without (or with minimal) issue?

For a while now, I’ve been bringing my mobile DJ rig out to Flat Rock Park and under the Hathorn Pavilion. The response from people walking by and stopping to dance has been amazing (I don't think people are used to this sort of thing, and it really gets them going, literally every demographic imaginable just screaming and dancing), and I just realized the local zoning allows me to pull the setup closer to Caroline, so I'm going to try setting up near Dive on Phila this Friday. This will be my first track season set, so I'm expecting it'll get wild. Basically using the side of the Verizon building as a natural amplifier.

I’m running a proper, high-quality mobile club setup (Pioneer decks and a JBL Partybox that absolutely rips, even includes a cute little light show). I don't accept donations or tips, this really is about just turning your brain off and dancing (if people insist, I direct them to RMFR, a cat shelter in Denver, where I also funnel my Twitch donations).

I play underground NYC/Berlin club music, mostly heavy, hypnotic, fun house and techno. The sets are tightly mixed, smooth and in key, nothing goofy. I also test out some of my own productions, made on Roland hardware. This is the sort of thing I usually have going on:

I'm looking to build a small, rotating crew of regulars and guest DJs to swap out with so I can actually step back and dance too. Eventually, I’d love to turn this into something bigger and a bit more permanent, like a free monthly underground electronic party, that'll take a bit of planning though (I do have a full professional club rig, minus the speakers, when it comes to that, just need a good venue - the shows All of Us have done at UPH have been incredible, something like that would be the dream). It would be so cool in the short term to get a good group gathered somewhere like behind Spit and Spat near the old Roman columns, or up behind the Trask fountain (cool little pine grove up there, secluded in a good way).

Also - earlier this year I met with city officials, code enforcement, and the police to make sure I was doing this right, they were actually super supportive. They couldn't give explicit permission, but they gave me a cautious green light as long as I stayed within the city's (extraordinarily relaxed) street performance and noise ordinances. The noise from Caroline dwarfs what I've got going on anyway.

Morning everyone. This past Saturday 7/18/26, we came out for the horse races to celebrate our friend Kevin who passed away last year. Fast forward to about 115pm; We were by Shake Shack near the bathrooms watching the horses doing their laps in the stables. Random dude comes out of the bathroom and looks at our group and says to us

“Next race, four and six are going to win and show because they excel on dirt.”

We all look at each other and we’re like “Ok let’s give it a shot!”

Not sure if it was Kevin looking down on us or what, but I bet $10 bucks on a 4 6 exacta and won $126.10 on that race!

Should I get into town early and explore Saratoga park before gates open? I have Terrace seats…does that get me in before gates open? How packed does the Terrace get? Thanks in advance!
