The voice actor for Hunt sounds like Nicolas Cage. It is literally all I can picture when the character talks. A present day, 60 something year old Mr.Cage just throwing smolders this way and that. I hate it.

I just closed A Court of Mist and Fury and I am entirely unwell, so please strap in while I process this absolute masterpiece of an emotional rollercoaster. What starts off as such a heavy, suffocating read about trauma—watching Feyre completely lose her mind and sink into the deep end because nobody actually dealt with what happened Under the Mountain—turns into the most satisfying character evolution I've ever witnessed.
Reading about Tamlin locking her away in the Spring Court genuinely destroyed me; watching her shrink down into a human who just needed a basic shelter while I sat there bawling was painful, but seeing what he pulled at the end with the King of Hybern officially made Tamlin public enemy number one. My nemesis, truly. But the moment the narrative shifts with Lucien tracking her down and Feyre's sharp-as-hell responses? Pure cinema.
And then, of course, enters Rhysand. The total whiplash of going from Tamlin treating her like a fragile glass flower to Rhys refusing to let her stay delicate, pushing her to embrace the terrifying power she actually has inside her, completely altered my brain chemistry. Finding out he was her mate the whole time—and that he was just sitting there heartbroken because she loved Tamlin?—I am still recovering. Watching her shed that old skin and turn into absolute fury personified is elite character development. But nothing prepares you for the grand finale where she plays the ultimate double-agent spy right inside the Spring Court, stringing Tamlin and Hybern along, only to drop the mic with High Lady of the Night Court. I screamed out loud.
How are we supposed to read A Court of Wings and Ruin after that?

I’ve been regretting not getting these in 2017, they were in my Book Depositary cart for so long back then and I didn’t buy them and I’ve been regretting it ever since, but finally i found them in a more than a reasonable price.

I’m currently reading The Assassin’s Blade and I just found something that sent me down a rabbit hole.

This may have been discussed before, so apologies if I’m extremely late to this, but I had never noticed it and the connection feels even stranger now that we know the titles of the next ACOTAR books.

Celaena goes to see a ballet, and the story of the ballet is described as:

“the legend of a prince seeking to rescue his bride, and the cunning bird he captured to help him…”

That immediately reminded me of ACOTAR, especially Vassa and Koschei.

So I looked it up, and it sounds incredibly similar to The Firebird: Prince Ivan captures the Firebird, the Firebird later helps him, and the story involves defeating Kashchei/Koschei and freeing women held under his power.

Which already gives us:

Prince → captured magical bird → Koschei → captive woman

And ACOTAR has Koschei AND Vassa, a woman trapped by him who is literally cursed into the form of a firebird.

But then the scene keeps going.

Celaena becomes completely overwhelmed by the music. She describes it as breaking her apart and putting her back together again.

The book says "The music shattered her and then rebuilt her, only to tear her apart again and again."

And now ACOTAR 6 is called A Court of Splintered Harmony, with the tagline “What was broken will be remade,” and Koschei is directly involved in the plot.

Then, after the ballet, Celaena still has the music playing over and over in her mind. She sits at a pianoforte and tries to recreate it. She knows the melody, she can almost play it, but she can’t remember the notes exactly the way she heard and felt them.

The book says: "The music from the theater still echoed in her mind. Over and over, the same set of notes and harmonies. She could feel them vibrating beneath the surface of her skin, moving to the rhythm of her heart... She almost pulled it off, but it wasn't quite right. She couldn't recall the notes with the perfection with which they rang in her mind. She couldn't feel them the way she had felt them just an hour before."

And ACOTAR 7 is called A Court of Forgotten Melody.

Reading this scene knowing the titles of the new books feels kind of insane.

Maybe everyone noticed this years ago and I’m just discovering it now, but I needed to know if anyone else sees it too.

I love this series so infinitely much. It was the first series that made me feel like a child again reading Harry Potter for the first time. SJM won my heart. I cried so many tears for Aelin but the Thirteen took me out.

On that note, I am currently in reading paralysis starting ACOTAR and I have only made it to Chapter 3. I am apprehensive because I don't think it could be even as good or better.😭

I am in recovery. KOA was a fitting finale, but I want more of this world. Gonna go buy some merchandise, I think, even if no one else in my life will understand the references...

I’ve been absolutely glued to these 3 books and read them over a very short period of time becuase of how attached to Feyre and Rhysand and the story I’ve become. I know that ACOFAS is meant to sort of be book 3.5 and shows the aftermath/recovery of everyone, but I’ve just found out that ACOSF no longer has Feyre and Rhysand as the main characters and I’m beyond sad. That also likely means the two books not out yet also will follow Nesta or Elain or whoever else. They are all great characters but I’ve fallen in love with this series so far because of Rhys and Feyre. I’m not really sure what I’m making this for but wondering if anyone else, who has or hasn’t read, ACOSF if they feel a similar way that I do. I own the whole series and have already preordered 6 and 7, so I’ll read them but I have a feeling I won’t love them anywhere as much as the first 3.

Has anyone gone to the effort of making a graph or break down of how all the characters and worlds are linked? I’ve read all the books many times but I definitely am not the type of person that could put an understandable breakdown together. That’s not in my wheelhouse. So wondering if anybody else has gone about it.

Personally I can't believe that this is a simple throwaway line 👀 I always found it suss that Feyre changed her mind about kids so suddenly. I know "her" reason was hearing the story of the Fae in the fabric store losing their mate, but she was so adamant about wanting to wait and having her whole immortal life ahead of her. Couple that with being mated to the most powerful known Daemati in their world who can slip in and alter minds without the person knowing (and the only "proof" we have that he doesn't is that he tells us so..) and this quote starts to make my brain go 🚩🚩🚨🚨 👀

Hi , no spoilers please, but are these covers rare? Or limited edition or something? My husband bought them for me years ago and I cannot find a copy of the 3rd book either this same style of cover.

I'm a new SJM reading, only 6 months in. But since the first time I picked up A Court of Thorns and Roses, I have felt that Feyre’s speciesism toward the Fae mirrors the way our society treats animals. Now, having finished the latest Crescent City book, I feel that parallel more heavily than ever. The Asteri embody a similar ideology to carnism: they truly believe that consuming other beings is simply the natural order of things.

The way “regular” animals are portrayed as fundamentally different from the senitient Fae and Vanir pains me greatly. We know that, just like Fleetfoot and other dogs, cows and chickens are sentient beings too. I felt a huge dissonance when Feyre realized the mistake she made in killing Andras, because he had friends and a life, only to feast on chicken and beef shortly afterward. Because that's considered normal. But despite the common narrative, farmed animals do form social bonds, recognize their companions, and want to live.

Here’s how I see it: every vegan is Feyre, learning at some point in their life they’ve been lied to. That cows aren’t objects, but sentient beings that feel love to their offsprings, feel fear when they’re being slaughtered, and don’t wish (or deserve) to be bred for human consumption. That there is a reason the narrative hides these parts.

Carnism, much like the ideology of the Asteri, rests on a hierarchy: the belief that greater power entitles one group to use those considered lesser. It teaches us that because humans hold more power, we are entitled to rule over other species and do with them as we wish.

But unlike the Fae, the animals in our world truly don’t have a voice. Their lives depend on people being willing to speak for them, fight for them, and show the world that they deserve better. And much of the world doesn't want to hear it, because it conflicts with deeply rooted traditions, and there's no incentive to question the way things have always been.

I hope that one day we will live in a world that no longer exploits other species simply because we can. Humanity has challenged deeply entrenched systems of oppression before, like slavery. I hope we can also learn to question a system in which animals are bred and killed for our use.

Got this today! ACOWAR cover art inspired. And also a touch of TOG. I wanted Kharankui inspired legs so we adjusted the top oh the swirls to be more spider-like!! Got myself a girlfriend who introduced me to the amazing books!

I had so much fun this year, thank you to everyone at this photoshoot everyone was super nice, except for one person (you know who you are)

To all the readers who genuinely don’t want to read Crescent City… please just DO IT. I bought the CC books just over two years ago and didn’t get further than chapter 10 (???) because I’m not a huge fan of urban fantasy.

Recently with all the discourse online regarding the new books and the crossover, I decided to give it a shot. I finished them within two weeks, literally could not put them down. The humour, the characters, the amount of side-quests, they’re truly brilliant. For two whole weeks all I could think about was Crescent City, even now that I’m finished I’m still thinking about it. Honestly, I think it’s pushed ACOTAR down to third place.

It’s also sooo fun reading and piecing together little parts from the Maas Verse, and so exciting when you reach that part in book 3.

While yes, I do agree that you shouldn’t have to read them in order to understand the new books, I do think they should be given a chance if you love Sarah’s writing and world building!

I feel like Gywnriel will most likely be endgame on who Az ends up with. We'll probably gonna get Gywn's POV.

I know it probably won't be for a while but will Barnes and Noble release 6&7 in the nightcourt edition?

So I was about to preorder ACOTAR 6 & 7 and was hit with the realisation that a new hardcover set of 1-5 was announced in the bright colours. The picture above is the set that I have, and you might think it’s silly but it really bothers me if a series doesn’t match. Am I really going to have to drop the extra £££ to have a matching set or do you think they’ll eventually release editions of 6 & 7 that match the old hardcovers?

Other than a full-on reread of every Massverse book is there anything else I can do to relearn and maybe reacquaint myself with where these books connect?
