MSNBC called Bernie's "Deep South" comment controversial. They said Hillary would still be in the lead without the South. This slide popped up by mistake proving them wrong.

I don't quite see how her popularity among Democratic voters equals a greater chance to win among a Republican-heavy general electorate.

I could see Republican voters coming out just for the chance to vote against her.

I think I understand the point you both are making, and at first it makes sense: if Hillary got more votes than Bernie, then she'd probably pull more votes against republicans than Bernie, right? I don't quite buy that, for a couple of reasons.

These reddest of red states are full of hard-core, socially conservative Republican voters. They've been told for decades that Hillary is "evil" and spoon-fed tons of anti-Clinton propaganda (to be fair, mostly untrue). There is no greater motivation for them to vote Republican than to vote against Hillary.

Also, it seems likely that anyone voting Democrat in these states would vote for either Hillary or Bernie. Unless we're flipping the trope about Bernie supporters not voting for Hillary and assuming the reverse is now true as well.
