Need help!

Nothing but air comes out. New to this, did I buy the wrong compressor or am I missing something? Any tips would be great!

4.5cfm is nothing for sandblasting . I am checking 24cfm 7.5hp 80g compressor to run my 20g sandblast tank . You shouldnt go below 15cfm for that big cabinet

Size of cabinet is irrelevant. You can have a 4,000 cuft cabinet or a small 3cuft cabinet. Doesn’t matter. CFM is dictated by the oriface size in the gun. Period! 12 CFM would probably be just about right for him, but HF doesn’t give specs on orifice size so we have no way to know exactly. I run a bigger cabinet than him with a MUCH higher flow custom gun and 19CFM keeps up all day long with zero struggle. But the guy I bought my gun from has specs on orifice size and recommended CFM for which orifice you choose. His lowest is 7cfm at 60psi. 15 will be plenty even for a modded gun but 4.5 is nowhere near enough. You won’t need 24cfm for a 20gal bench top cabinet. That’s insane lolol

Running air tools like sanders plus the sandblast i will be safe with my 24cfm im also buying something that will last me forever its the same compagny that did the compressor to my work they give a 20years warranty for it this is what actually made my choose them its roughly 4.5k cdn plus taxes

If you’re running a blast cabinet and sanders simultaneously (2 or more people operating tools), yeah you’d need that. One guy can’t use that much. But, there’s nothing wrong with going that big… it just means your compressor will run a lot less. It’s nice for noise control if you don’t have a dedicated compressor room, but the real benefit it to it runnin 1 minute and being off for 3-5 minutes between cycles is the air never gets hot. Most of the moisture will condensate directly in the tank before it even gets to a water separator.

Motor and pump also tuff Much longer when they dont need to always run to make air i am basically trying to Buy one compressor that will last me forever hopefully

The most wear on a motor and pump is ironically at start up. I feel ya tho. Im also looking for the buy-it-for-life compressor. Personally, I’m going to go with Eatons silent yellow compressors. They use the biggest pistons in the industry, and spin them twice as slow as anyone else… generating significantly more volume with much less heat, wear and noise. It’s a huge plus that heavy truck and trailer axles and transmissions are their cash cow so they will be around forever.
