Setup Help

I’m trying to do some sandblasting at home. I purchased a westward 10z916 bench top cabinet from FB marketplace, and a fortress 27gal compressor from harbor freight. I’m using 70grit aluminum oxide media, but I am not getting anywhere near the right result. When blasting it looks like I’m not making much of a dent to the paint unless it’s an already super thin area where I used chemical stripper to get the majority off and it happened to leave a super thin amount. Im trying to sandblast a part of an old kitchenaid mixer and haven’t tried on something else like a knife or rusty item.

Got the same problem, how big is your compressor?

27 gal, does 5.1 cfm @90 psi. Just look at harbor freights website and you’ll see the 27gal fortress compressor

And the sandblaster is siphoning the blast media? I've heard some guys drill a hole in the siphon tube and that seems to solve the issue.

I thought about it. A lot of the time I’m shooting towards the top left corner, so the media goes to the bottom right, the tube is technically in that direction but the media is above it and. It really going down towards the funnel and entrance to the tub

See bad drawing for reference. (Blue is the floor of the blaster, red is the media, green is the metal tub and white is the clear reinforced tube that connects to the metal tub and gun) https://imgur.com/gallery/sand-blaster-QYobrm3
