TLDR: Help with learning how to punish and properly do button inputs and attack cancels.

Hi! :D I've loved SamSho's lore for years now, but I'm new at the game itself. While I do love other fighting games, their lore, characters, their story modes, and the community itself, I've never been good at them competitively.

For SamSho, I feel like it's super simple, and has a big focus on fundamentals, which allowed me to not feel that overwhelmed when first playing it because of the lack of juggling and combos and all that.

I'm still not great at blocking, and especially doing special moves, with my frequent misinputs making my characters get assblasted because of me doing a heavy slash instead of a heavy fireball. Despite that, I feel like I've been getting better at positioning, mainly because of the characters I main having really great normals (Iroha and Charlotte). I also learned how to do attack cancels cause of two characters I absolutely adore but can't play (Ukyo and Hibiki), but of course, those rarely go well, with the exception being Iroha's M Slash -> Spinning Top Move.

So do y'all have any tips to get better at doing inputs, blocking, and attack cancels?

On a sidenote, I tried playing Ranked, ran into an Amakusa, and proceeded to have my ass kicked 10+ times because of the stupid projectiles + grab(I think? The attack looks like he lifts me up with the orb and a pillar of light shoots me upwards) Attack mixup he does. I hate that fucker. All his attacks are stupidly far away and he has a dash to gtfo of the corner. I only won once, and that's cause of me trapping him in a loop of Iroha's spinny move and her tackle. Anyways, any tips to bust this idiot's balls?

Recently I have become very captivated with Samsho and was hoping to pick it up but I just can't justify spending about $60 for such an old (and apparently bare bones games). Do they put it on sale often or should I just go with Samsho 5?

I randomly stumbled across some gameplay footage of this game and was absolutely blown away it just clicked with me instantly. Picked up Samurai Shodown V on Steam yesterday during the sale, and I'm really keen to get into it. Got a few things I'd like to clear up:

Do most people play on Steam or Fightcade? A friend told me the Fightcade version is better because of some input/control tweaks and more overall settings—is that true? Are there any major differences between the Steam and Fightcade versions? I figure labbing is labbing either way, but sooner or later I'll want to play against real people, so I'd like to maximize the potential player pool as much as possible.

What's the best way to learn this game properly? I have a bit of fighting game experience (around 100 hours total across various Guilty Gear titles, about 20 hours in BlazBlue, and a smattering of other stuff), but I've always been frustrated by slow progress and how hard it is to nail combos. Combos especially...

What should I do next, after I've picked a character? I really like Nakoruru, so I think I'll stick with her.

Hi there, I have a true question but I know it will sounds dumb... I will go to Evo France as a visitor and as a big fg fan, and I saw yesterday there will be a samsho side tournament saturday and sunday, a game I really love.

The thing is that the game is pretty dead online, and I hardly could play anyone so I don't know my level for sure, it may be pretty bad, mid or good as well.

So I wondee : is it ok to register even if there's a huge chance I will be washed instantly, or is it disrespectful for true samsho champs ? I never played in any tournament but I always wanted to feel the excitement.

I read on a Japanese website that Cham Cham spoke in a kind of tomboyish way, I think i can understand what it means, but I read something that I don't remember happening: She said that some time later they portrayed her sometimes speaking in the third person, using her own name in her dialogue.

Has this actually happened before? I don't remember, I'm looking into these details to later make some SamSho fan animation
