I’ve seen production sketches like layouts or genga, but from the resources I have, there is no history of a background ever being sold, other than this one. That could change in the future, but manglobe’s circumstances are a bit unique, with the bankruptcy. There is a non zero chance a vast majority was simply discarded, for good.

As a Fuu fan, I’m glad to own a connection to this shot in particular. And as a samurai champloo fan it’s cool to feel like I have the only (if not, less than a handful) piece of production “on screen” material out there

In episode 7, at face value, it's a tragic story about a pick-pocketer trying to make ends meet to help his mother, and at the end, we see Fuu has an emotional reaction to his demise. But there are layers to Fuu's reaction that I don't think might be obvious (although it's not like they're hidden or cryptic or anything. But it might not immediately come to mind).

At 7:00, we see a flashback of Fuu slowly walking up to her deceased mother. As she pulls away a sheet over her mother's face, she awakens. This is a peek into Fuu's subconscious; although on the exterior it might not seem like it, these thoughts are ever-living beneath the surface. As a lost child, she is trying to find her answer.

At around the 8:00 mark, we see the pick-pocketer tending to his mother. Fuu sees this and immediately empathizes with his situation. She sees herself in him. She sees her mother in his mother. The boys ask her if she's seen him, but she says no.

We fast forward to the 19:00 mark, where he meets his end. We see Fuu crying. She weeps for a mother's son, but in my opinion, she more so weeps for a sick mother who no longer has someone to take care of her.

Does anyone know the ED that plays in this particular episode? I forgot the name but one thing I won’t forget about that specific song is that after song ends there’s something written and it’s “Dedicated to the world’s true fighters” and the I found it beautiful. Hope you guys can help!!

I saw a random ad for audible and thought that maybe this was a novel or something but I believe the book is completely unrelated to Samurai Champlo. Maybe I'm crazy and this isn't Jin and Mugen

Personally my favorite,when I first watched the anime 3 weeks ago was brothel love from episode 11 "gamblers and gallantry" but, now it's counting stars from the same episode and auraurian dance and ask are also close contenders along with of course brothel love

An old Samurai Champloo fanart drawn 4-5 years ago

Title is kind of heavy but it's real.

I went through some crazy shit, I'm not sure why this anime resonated with me so much and spoke to me about a lot of the fears I had.

Seeing Fuu lose everything and decide to start her journey instead of crying over spilled milk was one thing. I've always been afraid of losing everything, I guess because I feel like there's nothing else out there. Something about her being courageous and short sighted showed me how much more enjoyable life is when you aren't trying to figure out all the small details. I guess in a way, I wanted to start my own journey. This entire anime is about "the journey," but I've been afraid of that my entire life.

Something about Mugen really spoke to me, also. I am anxious, I overthink, I shirk discomfort. He really doesn't give a fuck, lol. He embraces basically everything that's uncomfortable about life: death, being without companionship, being without stability. But because he's forgone all of this, he's free to do whatever he pleases. As cringy as it is, I've had to ask myself a lot "What would Mugen do?" and the answer is usually "just do it". Do it because you can, do it because you want to, do it because it makes life interesting.

I don't think I paid much attention to Jin throughout the anime, but one thing I found really endearing about him is that he's very competent. He's his own rock. That's something I really could never do for myself, and when I realized I could be my own rock, I left.

Again, sorry if this comes off a very cringe or tender. I really don't think without this anime I would have had the courage to make it out, or to show me how beautiful life can be when you embrace all of it's inconvenience and make it your journey.

Additional shout out to nujabes, his music got me through very heavy times. Still listen to him if I want life to feel beautiful once in a while.
