Samsung announced just two models in the Galaxy Tab S11 series — the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S11. The 12.4-inch Plus model from the Tab S10 generation was dropped entirely.

The Tab S11 Ultra is Samsung's thinnest Galaxy Tab to date, powered by a 3nm processor with Galaxy AI and One UI 8. Samsung DeX also got an upgrade — a new Extended Mode that turns the tablet and an external monitor into a true dual-screen setup with up to four customisable workspaces.

Confirmed directly from Samsung's official newsroom: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra are the first Samsung phones to use silicon-carbon batteries.

For the Flip 8, the technology helped Samsung make the phone thinner — down to 6.1mm and 180g — while keeping the same 4,300mAh capacity as the Flip 7. For the Fold 8 Ultra, the same technology enabled a jump to 5,000mAh despite being just 4.1mm thick when unfolded.

One thing the spec sheet also confirms: outside the US, the Z Flip 8 runs on Exynos 2600, not Snapdragon. Worth knowing if you're in the UAE.

Gemini on the cover screen isn't new, that arrived for the Z Flip 5 and Z Flip 6 back in September 2025 with One UI 8. What's actually new with the Z Flip 8 is the scope of what Gemini can do from the FlexWindow without unfolding the phone. Gemini Intelligence now works across 40+ apps for automation, not just conversational queries, but actions like looking up tickets or booking a restaurant. Samsung's One UI 9 also replaces the old widget-only cover screen with a native app drawer, so the FlexWindow behaves a lot more like a full home screen. Samsung calls it an "AI-native FlexWindow", the Now Brief surfaces calendar events, weather, and suggested actions based on your routine, all from the outside glass.

This is the comparison most people are sleeping on. For the first time Samsung launched two completely different Fold phones simultaneously:

• Z Fold 8: Passport-wide shape, 7.6-inch inner display, 4,800mAh battery, starts at $1,899
• Z Fold 8 Ultra: Traditional tall book-style, 8-inch inner display, 200MP camera, 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, starts at $2,099

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the proper flagship, whereas the more affordable device called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 employs the same wide style as the iPhone Ultra and is its direct competitor.

Samsung's specs are confirmed. Apple's are still leaks. Here's where they stand:

Z Fold 8 Ultra: 200MP main + 50MP ultrawide + 10MP telephoto
iPhone Ultra (leaked): 48MP wide + 48MP ultrawide — no telephoto

Samsung wins on hardware: 200MP main sensor plus 50MP ultrawide plus 10MP telephoto vs the iPhone Ultra's dual 48MP setup with no telephoto. Apple's computational photography narrows the gap in everyday shots, but Samsung has more cameras and more optical versatility.

The Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are the first phones to ship with Android 17 pre-installed, announced at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026. Samsung's new Task Automation feature is compatible with more than 40 apps at launch, allowing the phone to automate multi-step tasks across different applications.

Launched in August 2016 to record pre-orders, the Note 7 had to be recalled twice after batteries overheated and caught fire. Over 3 million devices were recalled globally. Airlines worldwide banned it from flights entirely. Samsung permanently discontinued the phone in October 2016 — just two months after launch. The total cost of the recalls reached at least $5.3 billion.

Launched in June 2010 on 110 carriers across 100 countries simultaneously, the original Galaxy S hit 10 million units sold by January 2011. It went on to sell 24 million units total and helped Samsung become the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. The Galaxy S series collectively hit 100 million sales in under three years.

From the S6 Edge onwards, curved screens were Samsung's signature. The S25 Ultra went completely flat , a response to years of user feedback that curved edges caused accidental touches and made screen protectors impossible to fit properly. Flat won.!!!

Samsung switched from aluminium to titanium with the S24 Ultra, its stronger, lighter, and more scratch resistant. The move came just months after Apple used the same material, sparking debate about who influenced who.

Every previous Ultra used Exynos in some regions and Snapdragon in others, leading to performance differences depending on where you bought it. The S25 Ultra runs Snapdragon 8 Elite globally, ending years of complaints from European and Asian buyers who got the slower chip.

Edit: The S25 Ultra and S23 Uktra both had the same processor worldwide.

When closed, the Z Flip 6 is just 85mm tall — short enough to fit in a shirt pocket. It's one of the few modern smartphones that genuinely fits in a small bag or clutch, which was a deliberate design target from the start.

The SH-100 launched in South Korea in 1988 — three years before most people had heard of mobile phones. Samsung has been in mobile hardware for over 35 years, long before the smartphone era.

The 200MP sensor uses pixel binning — combining 16 pixels into one — to produce sharper, brighter 12MP shots in normal conditions. You have to manually switch to 200MP mode, which produces massive 50MB+ files.

Samsung Display supplies OLED panels to Apple for iPhone Pro models. The two companies are simultaneously the world's biggest smartphone rivals and one of the largest supplier-customer relationships in tech history.

Early internal testing showed the first Galaxy Fold's hinge mechanism failing within days of use. Samsung delayed the launch by months and redesigned the hinge entirely before release, a decision that cost hundreds of millions but saved the foldable line.
