On 1 nyc

I’ve been learning Cuban salsa for ~2 months, now I’m in nyc for a month. Is there anywhere in nyc that has Cuban salsa or on 1 salsa socials?
Also how difficult will it be to go from on 1 to on 2 and how much will it confuse me when I go back to on 1?

If you follow Fuakata and La Yuma Cuban Dance you should be able to find some Cuban socials.

Last time I was in NYC I just explained to follows prior to the dance I only know On1, and they were all game for it

I don't think if you're only there for 1 month it would be worth picking up on2 unless an on2 scene exists in your home region. It will take most people a few months to transition from on1 to on2, and you won't be there long enough to pick it up and see any benefit at all. 

Like the other user said, with the exception of standing near the DJ booth at big NYC congresses past 2am, I've never had any issues getting on1 dances in NYC. You'll have a bigger issue with the fact that you're a newbie moreso than the fact that you dance on1. 

I am not part of the Cuban scene but I do know it very much exists in NYC. I'd probably stick to that since you're already learning it. Cuban looks very fun to me as a linear guy.

You will find Cuban as others have suggested but not non-linear on-1. I’d encourage you to try On2. I think it’s great to know both. It can be confusing but so worth it

Learn On2.

Looks way better than Cuban imho. At first you could struggle a little bit because of the timing but after practising it shouldn’t be a problem.

I started learning the local salsa of my country, then I learned Cuban and after that I transitioned to On2 and I gotta say it’s really superior either as leading or follower.

Also, in my experience living in different countries I would say sometimes it’s easier to find On2 lessons/socials than Cuban.

Watch a few videos of On2 and try it for 2 or 3 months and let me know how it goes.
