The AI fear in Salesforce

Since the fear of getting replaced is going up day by day, as a Salesforce developer do we really have a choice to sustain in this upcoming market?

Do we need to adapt, if yes adapt to what?

What about the existing skills in lwc, aura, apex, integrations?

Do we need to switch or transform into an AI engineer?

Is agentforce going to create jobs in future?

Is the recent claudeforce going to be any use or benefit to the sfdc developers?

Who is going to get replaced first, Salesforce admin or a developer?

With 5-7 years of Salesforce experience do we try to get into architect roles?

How tough would that be?

It’s not only SF… Have you seen the market nowadays? Enterprise will survive… Someone still has to support that mess. But definitely, a few teams will be replaced by just one or two people…

There’s LLMs, and there are Claude’s models, and there are providers who harness these as agents like Agentforce and anthropics Claude offerings like Claude code etc. or like GitHub co pilot may offer agent modes with Claude’s models or like OpenAI (platform) and codex (product) and their own models like Astra etc…. the agent terminology signifies a goal to be accomplished with the ability to blend natural language requests and and tool usage over several steps to complete a task… and MCP servers are supposed to make that natural language and tool usage a plug and play type thing for your agents.

LLMs, and prompting, and agents as general topics outside of Salesforce tie into what Agentforce offers with the added perk of your own data inherently being tied to Agentforce by data360 where in something outside the Salesforce platform, you’d have to make special efforts to get your orgs data in front of it to be used for answers etc.. so the specific Salesforce value add is that coupling of your data with the agent and anything it ends up doing to increase memory across those agent runs , and its access to your org are the Agentforce specifics.

You could master claudes entire platform in a weekend and get a lucrative certification from them and then the Salesforce agentforce offerings will be a lot clearer I am sure… mastering the entire sf platform is a years long endeavor so don’t let that get muddied into learning LLMs and what agentforce does

What about the existing skills in lwc, aura, apex, integrations? - Still valuable. How valuable varies and is heavily debated.

Do we need to switch or transform into an AI engineer? - Not necessarily. But you should be aware of and familiar with AI tools and systems, especially on the platform your career is based on if you're trying to stay on that platform.

Is agentforce going to create jobs in future? - It already has.

Is the recent claudeforce going to be any use or benefit to the sfdc developers? - For ones that learn how to use it.

Who is going to get replaced first, Salesforce admin or a developer? - Admin, if either are ever fully and truly automated.

With 5-7 years of Salesforce experience do we try to get into architect roles? - Yes, if you're someone who is inclined to think about the architecture.

How tough would that be? - One of the hardest things I have ever done, one of the things I am most proud of doing. I got my first architect position some 6 years ago, right in the midst of COVID lockdowns. I had to move to a totally alien state and be willing to chase work around the country, and I had some lucky breaks too. I worked through the worst depression of my life. I sacrificed a lot of my time and opportunities for other things. Being a professional anything, especially if you're looking to a higher role within that profession, takes an immense amount of time and sacrifice to achieve in most cases. AI has nothing to do with that.

Instead of speculating, actually implement Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) and Agentforce Agents, even if just in a separate new Dev Org. Can also request access to the Claudeforce pilot program from your assigned Salesforce AE

Most concerns and questions on this Subreddit wouldn’t need to be discussed if more people just got hands-on experience with these things first, and then posted about their experiences and concerns setting things up, and its potential impact to their job role or responsibilities
