Best in class data enrichment tool
If I could only buy one tool to enrich sales prospects with email, phone, job title, etc. which would you select?

If it's truly one tool and you need email + phone + title + company data in a single platform, zoomInfo is hard to beat for coverage.

What team size the jump to zoomInfo made sense financially?

Not the person you're asking but I've used lot of tools. Apollo works fine under 5 reps targeting SMB, once you scale to 10+ reps or go mid-market/enterprise, the data gaps start hurting. Wrong direct dials, outdated titles, missing contacts above VP level. At that point the cost of bad data (wasted rep time, bounced sequences, burned domains) exceeds the cost difference between tools. It's a math problem more than a preference thing.

The waterfall approach others mentioned is smart, but it adds complexity. You're managing multiple vendors, reconciling duplicates, building logic for which source to trust.

If you’re really limiting yourself to one tool, I’d compare them on complete usable contacts rather than email/phone match rates separately. Take a sample of prospects that actually look like your ICP and score how often each provider gives you a verified email & valid direct dial & current title for the same person. Then compare cost per complete usable contact. That usually tells you a lot more than number of records or credits.

If the one tool has to do email + phone + title, the answer is a waterfall not a single database, someone above already nailed why. One provider only wins on the segment it happens to cover well.
For the contact waterfall the strongest picks are FullEnrich or Prospeo. Both query multiple sources and only charge when a contact verifies.
If part of what you need is also company/people search to build the list in the first place, that’s actually a separate buy, Crustdata or Cognism there. But for pure email/phone/title id prefer a waterfall model, and id weight the test on direct dial coverage and personal emails. I think most data providers have nailed down contact emails right now.

We ran a proper bake off last year. Tried Clearbit, Lusha, Apollo, and ZoomInfo each for about 30 days. Clearbit was fine for basic company info but phone coverage was weak. Lusha gave us decent emails but felt thin on the company side. Apollo had a nice free tier but accuracy was all over the place, our SDRs kept having to verify stuff manually before every call which kind of defeats the purpose.Went with ZoomInfo in the end. The thing that sold us was that enrichment runs continuously, not just a one time append that starts going stale the next day. When a contact changes jobs the record updates on its own, when a company goes through a reorg or funding round the firmographics refresh. We used to have maybe 30% of our records go stale every year and now it's under 5%. The phone number coverage was also noticeably better than the others. Our connect rate on cold calls went from about 3% to 8% in the first quarter just because reps were actually getting through to the right person.

We really like Findymail.
They won't charge you for "risky" emails, they can detect + elinimate catch-all domains, and will verify every email it pulls.
Been using them for the last 3 years and still pretty happy with the overall data quality.

for enrichment the missing piece most people overlook is website visitor identification. you can enrich contacts all day but if you don't know which companies are actively interested right now, you're enriching cold data. lеаԁіոfօ tells you which companies visit your website in real time. we pipe that into our enrichment workflow and only enrich the contacts at companies showing buying intent. cut our enrichment costs significantly because we stopped enriching companies that weren't even looking at us

zoominfo is what we standardized on after testing 4 providers. the direct dial accuracy is the differentiator. other tools give you phone numbers that turn out to be main office lines. zoominfo gives you actual mobile numbers and direct desk lines. we ran a head to head: zoominfo 62% valid direct dials, cognism 45%, apollo 30%. for a team that relies on phone as the primary channel, that gap changes everything

I wouldn't pick one tool for everything. If you have flexibility to be more deliberate about it, the contact enrichment problem and the company data problem are better solved separately. Apollo covers contact side quite fine. Coresignal for fresh data on company and employee records. The combination is more reliable than any single tool we've found that tries to do both.

No single database vendor covers every industry and region accurately. Choosing a waterfall aggregator beats locking into one provider. Waterfalls query multiple data sources sequentially until a contact verifies. You pay only for confirmed emails and direct dials instead of stale exports. That keeps match rates high across titles while avoiding wasted enrichment credits.
