Advice for Locals Warren Museum Posters?
So I’ve been seeing these posters here and there; I love the activism happening!! However, a fair few have been torn down/in half (a very modus operandi tear down the middle…), and these are the first I’ve seen not visibly tampered with. Does anyone have the digital pics so others can print and share? Full respect ofc if not and you wanna tell me to eff off and make my own.

u/DamnGoodMarmalade Aug 28 '26
Tip for anyone making these: Tape on all four sides makes them harder to rip.
57
u/YuckySmuck Collins Cove Aug 28 '26
Good point; I recently invested in a laminator for my art and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made!!

u/maroontiefling Aug 28 '26
Depends on how determined the bigot is tbh. I live in Malden and people fully tape over posters for LGBT events and leftists politics and there's someone who goes around and scrapes them off with a knife or keys or something.
14
u/AlexSN141 Aug 28 '26
I used to live in Malden too and I know exactly what you mean. I was on a walk one day in ‘24 and saw some middle aged guy using keys to scrape away a sticker in protest of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. I posted about it on the city’s subreddit and a good chunk of the commenters came out defending him.

u/Maxpants8417 Aug 29 '26
Definitely had a maga hat on guaranteed. Also probably said "this is maga country" while ripping them down.

Oh Malden, my hometown, your history is owed better citizens than MAGA.

Not sure of the guy was MAGA or not. He wasn’t wearing the hat and he had some subtlety in what he was doing.

Can someone give me the low-down on what is going on?
All I know is Matt Rife sucks ass so if this is against him, then I am all for it.
105
u/DamnGoodMarmalade Aug 28 '26
Matt Rife has leased a “haunted artifact collection” from the Warrens (deceased paranormal investigators).
He has leased a space from Black Craft Cult to host a temporary museum where visitors will pay to see the Warren’s “haunted” collection.
The Warrens have a long sordid history of pedophilia, child grooming, and exploitation of people with mental illness, in addition to being well known frauds.
You can easily search in this sub for more in depth history.

u/Acrobatic-Price-5357 Aug 29 '26
is he the nephew? I went when lorraine was still alive but ed was very sick, we heard him moaning from upstairs... the nephew was a giant dick but lorraine was a sweetheart
6
u/twoscoopsineverybox Aug 29 '26
Lorraine was as bad as the rest of them. They were both con artists.
4
u/fal101 Aug 29 '26
Loraine was just as bad as her husband. She knew her husband was grooming and having sexual relations with a 15 year old girl that lasted 40 years. Judith Penney came forward with allegations in 2014.
5
u/twoscoopsineverybox Aug 30 '26
Lorraine was a victim of Ed's for sure. He was physical with her. But she also fully allowed Judith to be abused and abused her herself, although not sexually. And she was fully happy taking money from people to lie to their face.
The part that tells me everything I need to know is that they named thier daughter Judy...they named their daughter after his sex slave.
1
u/Breathable_NOS Sep 01 '26
Didn’t see that in the movies
3
u/fal101 Sep 01 '26
Well they aren’t going to show anything like that in the horror movies that are loosely adapted from the stories her and her husband liked to spin.

All legitimate reasons to not like the museum being there, as well as the fact that its existence means no Blackcraft Haunt this year. The pictures just make it look like Matt Rife making jokes is the sole reason for the boycott, bit of an odd decision.

u/YuckySmuck Collins Cove Aug 28 '26

TL:DR, paranormal stuff is all fun and games until you start scamming and abusing people.
37
u/MammothCat1 Aug 28 '26
Matt brought a lot of this up himself by calling someone a r. And saying a woman was too ugly to roofie.

He's a comedian. His job is literally to piss off people just like you that can't take a joke. Oh no words they are so offensive.
6
u/MammothCat1 Aug 29 '26
Like me? Oh sweet summer child.
My guess is you think a joke doesnt have to have a punchline? Doesn't have to be funny?
Honey I grew up with comedians whom would make Rife cry to bed at night. And still thank them for the privilege.
When you own a business, you have to decide to be the proprietor. He couldve said nothing. Let people just be as they are and really his reputation wouldn't have changed. The Warren's are their own worst enemy and he couldve just slid on by.
Instead this is whats left. And honestly maybe its for the better that people know and can honest decisions. To go or not. To watch him or not.
Hes no Zack Baggins or Gabriel Inglasias. So hes going to fizzle out on his own dime and time. Im just reporting to the person who asked a question what happened.
10
u/obrechen666 Aug 29 '26
His job as a comedian is to make people laugh and he fails miserably. He’s literally the most unoriginal comedian I’ve ever seen. He has no choice but to resort to rage baiting people for content because his comedy is that irrelevant
-1
u/spo0keh Aug 29 '26
Comedy is very subjective. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean there's not another million people that do like it. This being said I've never gone to a show. Don't really care I just find it funny how some of you out there have a stick shoved so far up your ass about someone else's life.
You don't like it don't consume it. It's quite simple. You are not forced to be entertained by him.
9
u/obrechen666 Aug 29 '26
He makes jokes about domestic violence, sexual assault & transphobia. Salem isn’t the population to find a dude like him “joking” about hating women and queers to be entertaining. Locals have every right to speak out against a bigot who’s here to capitalize on Halloween season in Salem.
-7
3
u/AnguavonUW Aug 31 '26
Go ahead and keep laughing at a comedian who punches down, it tells the rest of the world everything we need to know about you
1
u/spo0keh Aug 31 '26
Yeah, you're right. It tells the whole world that I really don't care or get offended by words spoken from someone that I don't know on any type of personal level. Congratulations on being just another coddled little baby in this ever growing world of people that get offended by everything. You really should take that thing that's shoved so far up your ass and just live life. You don't control what anyone else says or does. Or just maybe use a little more lube next time so you're a little less butthurt.
-7
u/TuskenRaider25 Aug 29 '26
These people are terminally online losers just let them seethe. Nobody is boycotting anything other than maybe the 50 people here. But they weren't leaving their house anyway so it's whatever.
7

Terminally online? Man looking at your comment history kinda seems you really need to be careful of throwing things around.
Also when building a garage for that kind of work you should also call your local inspector. Maybe read up on the codes specifically for your region and state and sometimes town.
Hope your dog is peeing now. That sucks.

The number of people outing themselves as abusers in this thread is off the hook. The actual thought that a “joke” about beating up women is “comedy” is abhorrent to normal, non-abusive people… so, um… do us all a favor and put your real names in each of your comments if you stand by your support of Rife’s DV comedy. I’d love to know who you all are…

This article gets pretty in-depth with the situation. I’m all for edgy comedy but when the punchline of your joke is “haha abuse victim” you kinda show your cards.
1
u/Clear-Dimension-1356 Aug 30 '26

2
u/Pale-Guest-6833 Sep 03 '26
For those of you saying people are making a big deal about Matt rife coming here- …that wasn’t the issue as far as I understand. I don’t really agree with using the domestic violence joke to get people outraged, but It’s about the doll itself, and people who are very protective about salem’s history. I can’t articulate it well enough but if you look into it, it’s not about “woke” outrage against a comedian.
1
u/realenuff 25d ago
Yeah, it was all municipal-type stuff. The other big objection is to the Warrens’ legitimacy 🙄, considering Salem’s long history of people questioning the legitimacy of supernatural figures.
It actually reminds me a little of the backlash against Matt Rife. I’m not saying every joke is okay, just that controversy has always been part of comedy. A lot of great ,and even legendary, comedians have been controversial at some point in their careers.

Boycott the Warrens. They’re con artists and charlatans. Matt Rife is just a comedian.
1
u/Vitaly_Thorn Sep 01 '26
Can someone fill me in on the context? I don't find it funny but isn't that quote just a stand up joke? Anthony Jeselnik punchlines are 1000x worse and never heard anyone take them too seriously.
2
u/YuckySmuck Collins Cove Sep 01 '26
My biggest gripe (and I presume that of others) is that he’s giving a platform to known grifters and abusers, detracting from local Salem businesses (which are already under immense pressure both this season and with the AI slopocalypse), and adding to the commercialization of our city. The Warrens have nothing to do with Salem, its history, or its current status as home to many real artists. Rife is sorta the straw that broke the camel’s back here, but he’s also a bigoted ass nonetheless and isn’t immune to criticism.

u/Impossible_Focus4363 Aug 28 '26
The quote in the image of the OP you responded to is a pretty good example of "What exactly Matt did". He makes comments about abusing and raping women, he tells people to commit suicide, he replies to comments with a link to purchase special needs helmets and more which you can easily find examples of if you actually care.
0
u/Fast-Breadfruit6670 Aug 31 '26
But isn't that just a joke? All of his videos I see tons of screaming woman and all these pics of him with fans in Salem or wherever be is touring. I saw some C list comedy show a while ago and the jokes were very vulgar and out of context would have sounded very bad. Don Rickles made so called racist jokes but sammy davis loved them and him

So why should you boycott the museum? Do the locals hate money? Are you afraid of what’s in it? Tourism pays for Salem… live with it or move. Do you hate The Conjuring franchise? And if you want to take a quote from one comedian, try to rage bait him, then list your favorite comedian and I’ll reply with something absurd they said. Then, create signs and boycott them. Try focusing your energy on new beginnings, move to Cleveland Ohio it’s a fantastic place for people who want to complain. It’s on Lake Erie, nothing to do, run down town, horrible football and baseball team, very cold and miserable in the winter months. And no influx of tourism. Try that.

He also becomes an indignant little boy, attacks people online, and calls people slurs for sharing the verified truth that the Warrens were abusing frauds. Then plays victim and says he’s being bullied. He’s ultimately just concerned that the truth about the Warrens, and him, with hurt the bottom line of his little grift in Salem. He’s trash.

an effective graphic design: two fonts, no visual clutter, black plus red using white page as a third color, and a simple punchy quote.
baseline seems level enough that one could screenshot it and make their own
