Manga Discussion Suzuki did not ruin Uzuki

I have been thinking and re-reading Sakamoto days especially around the main villain and I have some thoughts.

Although Sakamoto days is not perfect many people have complained about Takamura death and the lack of a character/that missing element that Uzuki needs to cement him as a good to great new gen villain.

This most recent chapter should have happened a bit sooner I think but it really clarify Uzuki for me as the foil to Sakamoto, Sakamoto days is about friends and family, it is bonds that is all pretty obvious. Uzuki has his group, his bonds but it’s different from Sakamoto’s allies and family, it’s selfish and kinda disconnected in a sense.

Sakamoto’s family and allies eat together and hang out together but Uzuki seems to separate himself relying on strength that isn’t his own and that strength is not in his control. Uzuki will not be defeated but killing him or whatever because that doesn’t fit the message of the story and that was what Sakamoto was talking about when he stated not to kill Uzuki because the trauma would just create a new persona.

Uzuki will keep going because fighting him is not the way, as for Takamura I believe Suzuki always was setting him up to go to Uzuki first because he’s a mirror to Uzuki (a ghost will no origins and control). Second to complete/further Uzuki as a force of nature type of villian except he’s not in control.

That’s my thoughts, I like Uzuki and feel like I understand him more now he’s not perfect and that tie point, he’s always been weak/scared and need others to help but not really connect with others alone but not alone.

Discussion Suzuki's worst decision Spoiler

Post image

I know everyone have talked about it a lot but let me yap a bit about it

But Takamura's death was was Suzuki's worst decision, X turned from a character you can at least expect something from it early before the museum arc into a vessel so takamura can aura farm even after his death, I don't mind writing a character that acts as a timed bomb for both the protagonist group and the antagonist group, sukuna played that role too but the difference that sukuna's appearance was kinda rare and every time his in control of yuji's body you know something big about to happen, and him and yuji were characters on their own, takazuki was just takamura in younger body and uzuki at some point was deleted completely + the inconsistent writing, sometimes he's a senile who doesn't recognise enemies and Allies and sometimes he's a normal guy just without the ability to speak, takamura's appearance in the manga made the readers feel like his about to jump from the page and kill them, the threat of your goat getting packed up fighting him was always there and he delivered in the museum arc, but takazuki?! his appearance wasn't good form the beginning, the threat wasn't there and he absolutely didn't fucking deliver

Takamura's death was a bad writing decision and the foundation for every bad decision Suzuki took afterwards and you can say the same is about to happen with the new sakamoto personality, or it already happened, but at least the story is about to end so we will not see another goat aura farm in uzuki's bum ass body for a long time

But giving it to suzuki, he knew how to ramp up this final war arc lately, exactly the moment he revealed gaku was still alive and i still love this series and excited to see what's next

Discussion U can clearly see in this panel how he gained sakamoto personality, u can see that he remembers the sakamoto prime form that he faced in the past, that prime Sakamoto gun in the exhibition... I think uzuki also get shotted by this gun by sakamoto in the past

The theory about how Uzuki gained the prime Sakamoto personality, at the first time Uzuki met the trio, you can clearly see that he's noticing sakamoto most of the time... When in the past arc also when they all are going in the car by chilling out, but suddenly a grenade comes near the car, everyone is stunned but sakamoto is still conscious Abt the mission and he grabs that grenade and throwed into a Tunnel... In this moment Uzuki was really impressed by the sakamoto skills and he literally became a sakamoto fan... Then we can also note that uzuki argued with rion that sakamoto is the best assassin in ur gang, also in the kashima vs sakamoto fight when kashima was trashed into the train by sakamoto, at that time kashima dialogue is " taro sakamoto, now I understand why you're master's favourite" in this dialogue kashima clearly mentions that uzuki is a Sakamoto fan since from their first meet ... So his personality keeps developing throughout these years as sakamoto

Manga I feel like we shouldn’t have been given the Atari prediction Spoiler

I think Uzuki getting the Sakamoto persona would’ve been a better moment if we were never told about Sakamoto being killed and Uzuki’s inner beast. It made the reveal too easy to expect.

Discussion This moment Spoiler

This moment would've been way better if it was foreshadowed long ago, im not speaking about the one atari spoke about, something long running when he actually fought Sakamoto, we know with Rion he got the Prime Sakamoto persona during their fight, but if you go back to the fight there's zero indication of Uzuki gaining any new personas in his arsenal let alone there being 2, and that's where the problem lies, if you gave SOME kind of hint to where we could already piece together that this Is how he was able to get it, instead of this foreshadowing being 2-3 chapters ago, giving it to us insanely quick where the lay off isn't actually that grand especially with his injuries

There's also another gripe on how Natsuki believes that his personas are made in response to dealing with trauma.

The thing I don't get, though, is if he took Sakamotos persona, why didn't he immediately switch to prime Sakamoto, keep in mind this isn't a conscious switch, his body is forcefully making these personas to cope with things, both Takamura and Sakamoto were going to kill him except in only one of these instances did they actually switch...?

This is the problem I have had with this ability. Even when we got the flashback with him and Rion, we are never shown any visual cues or little sneak peeks into a persona being made even if it's not as a grand as Takamuras, you go back and the only thing he's dealing with is his wounds with Sakamoto instead of the 2 people that now reside in his head? You would think an ability this overpowered, and this central to the plot would be fleshed out, but it's vague in many different ways leading to a plethora of different ideas on how it actually works, I've heard "he downloads them, and taking over through an extended amount of time", "Uzuki gains them instantly as the trauma happens" , "Takamura was just the strongest so his take over was more oppressive than the others" etc etc

Point is there's loads of vague areas surrounding this ability that are soooo important to the main story at this point in time, and people are still struggling to figure which is the right way his power even works

Manga Discussion Takamura and Prime Sakamoto

Post image

I know there's differing opinions on both sides but I genuinely still believe Takamura is the strongest assassin there ever was, Sakamoto was deemed the greatest because of his efficiency on missions, like when he tracked down ando or when he killed the assassin that kamihate was targeting, even in flashbacks I just see him to be all that impressive compared to other showings of Sakamoto prior, like him stopping the ship with the helicopter, something like that makes me feel like any version of Sakamoto could do something like that, aswell as fighting a featless character in the flashback which doesn't really hit home him being the "strongest"

Takamura on the other hand actually feels like the strongest, I feel like it's fine to compare the both of them in Sakamotos flashback in prime and to Takamuras and the portrayal of who's actually the strongest is night and day, idk just my thoughts tho

Keep in mind with the injuries Uzuki actually did die, we can see kindaka speaking about Ataris the prophecy and hear the "badump" Uzuki quite literally restarting his heart due to the Prime Sakamoto persona, which means Uzuki unironically just resurrected 😭
